I’ve never really enjoyed using any oil cleanser. That MAY be because the ones I’ve used have all been on the cheaper end of the market. I’ve tried oils that made me break out, concoctions that only ever managed to move my makeup around my face, and formulations so thick they left a greasy residue on my pillowcases.
I was ready to abandon the whole reasonably priced oil-based cleanser world to be honest. Balms, in contrast, seem to have been embraced and quickly mastered by brands in my price range. Honourable mentions to Boots No 7 AND Soap and Glory Hot Cloth Cleanser. (Both €13.50 – ish and worth every penny.)
I sincerely wish I had the budget for Shu Uemura’s cleansing oil but I straight up need that money for food.
Anyway I was delighted to see The Body Shop’s new cleansing Camomile range, and in particular their Camomile Silky Cleansing oil. It's all fair trade, which is sound, plus I trust The Body Shops cleansers to do their job without irritating my temperamental eye area.
Nobody likes to be rendered blind at bedtime, it makes it tricky to find your PJs, and I’m usually already cranky.

The cleansing oil comes in a handy pump action bottle. Now the first thing I did was accidentally squirt a generous dollop of this directly into my eye (not an intentional or an advisable move, but my right eyeball does feel thoroughly cleansed) as such I can confirm it’s very easy on the ole eyes.
What I tend to do when not pouring this into my eye-socket is apply it to dry skin, leave it to get to work while I brush my teeth, and then remove it with a bit of warm water and a face-cloth. It’s super effective, even on waterproof mascara, and afterwards my skin feels really well cleansed, but soft and hydrated too. Brilliant, I think I can now get on board with the whole oil cleansing thing.
The Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil is €17.50 and I think it's pretty decent value for an effective cleansing oil.
Have you tried any of The Body Shop's Camomile Cleansing range? And are there any other great cleansing oils that won't break the bank?
