Burt's Bees Holiday suitcase tin: roadtested and reviewed

Awh, would you look? Burt's Bees have launched a Holiday Suitcase gift set for the season that's in it and isn't it just a little dote of a thing? You get the Essential Burt's Bees Kit, containing cleanser, body lotion, hand salve, lip balm and a foot cream, all housed in the tin miniature suitcase, for just under 25 euro-bucks.

Hand Salve
I first played around with the Hand Salve, enthused because I'd never used a solid hand moisturiser before. The chap on the lid freaks me out but the little tin is very cute and handbag-friendly.

Because it's very solid, it takes some rubbing to actually get the required amount product out. This is one that I'd bring out with me and use when I have time to kill, rather than sitting and home and spending the afternoon swirling my fingers around and hoping that it'll hurry up and melt.

Foot Cream
After an incident with a very large bottle of Malibu, I can only get my coconut fix from scented cosmetics and skincare. Lucky for me, the Foot Cream in this set smells like a whole beach of coconut trees, with a little minty hint for good measure.

Its got a thick, waxy consistency that leaves a near sticky coating - don't go padding about the floor unless you want to fashion yourself some dust shoes. If rubbed it in well enough, the stickiness diminishes quickly enough.

Naturally Nourishing Milk and Honey Body Lotion
Encouraged by the strength of the foot cream scent, I cracked open the Naturally Nourishing Milk and Honey Body Lotion.  It's very mildly scented, which might be a good or bad attribute, depending on your tastes.

It's absorbed quickly and leaves no white glow. After scanning the product details, I can't find a thing about SPF so I'm forced to assume it's not present. Kinda odd, considering this is pitched as a holiday set but I suppose this could be your night-time lotion or you could layer it with your favourite sunblock.

Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream
Bouncing back from the delicate scent of the body lotion is the yummy Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. Fragrance-wise, this is indistinguishable from Refresher bars. Whether this was intentional or not, I don't know but I love being transported back to my primary school class trips, when a pound got you enough sweets to feed your group of friends for a month of Sundays.

Surprisingly, I got on really well with this. It's a cream cleanser so, as expected, it wasn't at all drying and I experienced no tightness after use. It contains no sulfates or parabens but the perfume might be a deal-breaker for some. Though my skin is very sensitive, it wasn't at all irritated by this.

Beeswax Lipbalm
Finally, the kit contains Beeswax Lip Balm, a menthol flavoured chap stick that gently tingles when applied. I've been using this exclusively since as I got it because I love how refreshing it tastes. Unfortunately, this meant that the tube was nowhere to be seen when it came to taking pictures. I'm sorry! Fingers crossed it's only hiding in the bottom of some bag - it's a gorgeous balm and I wouldn't think twice about buying a new one if my original has been lost to the twilight zone that is my life.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed - nice products, nice packaging and the potential to use it for my passion in life (STORAGE!) once it's empty. What do you reckon?
