Crap see-through planes, satin shorts so razor sharp she must have had the world's most beleaguered ladyparts 24/7 and a golden lasso that could tether the nethers of the most evil of baddies; all that and her hair was always Elnetted to perfection. I mean, is it any wonder Mac has chosen to honour Wonder Woman with its latest collection?
Landing on Irish beauty counters on March 3rd, You'll no doubt have seen the advance pix left, right and centre on blogs already (check Temptalia for tons of shots and Karen over at Make Up and Beauty Blog for her witty take) so just I'll briefly show you what's on offer and then get stuck into the four bits I was given to poke my paws into.
Here's the makeup lineup. Lipsticks will be €19, Lipglass, €21.50, Opulash mascara, €18, Penultimate Eye Liner, €24, Nail Lacquer, €13.50, Lash, €12, Eye Quads, €52, Reflects Glitter, €26.40, Pigment, €26.50, Powder Blush Duo, €27 and Mineralize Skinfinish, €35.
And here are the accessories: Red and Blue Makeup Bag, €31.50, Utility Belt Eye Brush Set, €65 and Utility Belt Face Brush Set, €65. The mirror, top, is online only so not available in Ireland.
Right! That's a very quick overview of the lot, lets get a closer look at some of the products in the wild. Or, er, on a table. In my flat.
I've seen a lot of grumbling about the packaging. Hey. This is a collection based on a DC comic character and then later a cheesy 70s TV show. Er, what exactly do people expect? Sleek sophistication? If that's what you're after, look away now and visit a Laura Mercier counter. This shizz be fun: plastic, primary colours, decals and metallic finishes abound.
Above is one of the Eye Quads - I got Lady Justice, which I reckoned was the nicest based on the pix I'd seen. It contains four blue-based shades and costs €52.
Happily, I love these sort of shades. From left to right the shades are are Lady Justice, Insurmountable, Deep Truth and Bold Babe.
Lets have a bit of a closer look, shall we?
Lady Justice and Insurmountable.
Deep Truth and Bold Babe.

One word: YUM.
And here be swatches. Lady Justice is basically just sheer glitter, Insurmountable is actually a very interesting shade. It's a creamy blue-grey and while it's probably not a shade I'd buy solo, it works well within the context of the quad and I am quite intrigued. The two standouts are Deep Truth and Bold Babe - both are gorgeous bright metallics that swatch about medium intensity. Lovely. This quad is for me, the best pick from the entire collection.
What's next? Oh yes, the rather large Mineralize Skinfinish. A few products are super hero-sized and this is one of 'em, with 20g of product in there, making it twice the size of the normal offerings. It's also more expensive at €35 and the shade I got is Golden Lariat.
It's the deeper of the two on offer so is a firm no-go for me; I'm too pale for it. But if you're darker or really, really love bronzer, then it could be a goer. Three shades can be used solo or combined, and we had a brief look at this last week when makeup artist Lesley Keane suggested it as a good buy to fake Kim Kardashian's look.
Swatches on my fingers: there's lots of colour in this one.
Next up: one of four Opulash mascaras. Mine is Themyscira, and it's - obviously - a blue. The collection also includes black, green and Purple for €18 each.
Last up for me is Pigment in Bright Fuchsia. I will (probably!) NEVER in a fit of a month of a million Sundays wear this. I'm also not sure who will get through a pot of very slightly shimmery magenta, unless they're very into the myxomatosis look. Or a makeup artist. Fun shade though! If you want to indulge, the companion blue pigment would definitely be more wearable. €26.50's the damage on this.
Here's the powder inside the pot.
And here's a swatch.

All in all, yeah, Wonder Woman is fun. Based on the range shots and the four products I've seen I'd really only hand-on-heart recommend the shadow quads and the mascara. The duo blushers also look interesting and I'd like to get a good look at that marker pen-style liquid liner too.
Does anything float your boat?
