All I want this season (well, almost) is an orange nail polish that looks good enough to eat. My usual summer go-to, coral, just isn't going to cut it, I'm afraid: it's just not quite eye-poppingly bright enough to satiate my lust for near-neon.
As luck would have it, a couple of brands are of the same mindset. I'm most looking forward to Dior's Electric Tropics release and getting my paws on a bottle of Aloha, the delicious hot red orange shade in the collection that had me salivating over the nails at their SS11 shows. Aloha puts me in mind of Rocket ice pops (remember them? Orange-flavoured with a chocolate-coated top, came in a blue paper wrapper?) and I have an inkling that it will be exactly the shade I'm looking for when it hits counters in May.
Can't wait that long? No problem. There are quite a few on-trend bright orange contenders available now: the key to finding a juicy shade is to look for a hot orange that has slight reddish leanings. These will suit pale or pasty skin better than true tangerine, and hopefully prevent that unfortunate "ten tiny traffic cones atop your fingers" look.

Nails Inc Porchester Place, a limited edition release, looks like a good and very tempting bet, as does Illamasqua Gamma. On the high street/in the chemist round the corner from work, check out Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish in Pop! and Barry M Block Orange.
