Opulence and the 1970s have informed AW11's fashion in a big way, and their influence is similarly evident in some of the upcoming season's hottest beauty trends. Sure it would hardly be autumn if jewel tones and metallics weren't on the agenda for nails, and they are – yet again! – as are '70s-esque shades of sludge.
Very good news for anyone who'd like to tip a nod to the new trends without stocking up on spangly trousers or felt fedoras ...
Jewel tones & metallics
Opting for rich, vibrant, gemstone-alike colours opens the lid on a veritable treasure chest of options. There's something to suit all tastes and skintones: ruby and garnet are the old standards, but this time around emerald, amethyst, sapphire, and of course peridot make the grade, too.

Blingy, lustrous finishes in moody, winter-appropriate shades are a glam choice and always a safe bet for *whispers* party season.

Sludge Shades
Colours that are fugly but interesting continue their reign as the new nudes. Murky khakis, camels and taupes can be difficult to carry off and look pretty rotten on all but the most perfect of pale skins, though.
If you find such shades difficult to carry off, try muted greys and sage greens instead, or break up the colour with a little ornamentation in the shape of a glitter accent nail or Yigal Azrouel stylee glitter tips.
