Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Under Test

clinique repairwear laser focus

When Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle and UV Damage Corrector was launched last year, I remember being very impressed by the sound of the research done to measure the effects of the product and the comparison to surgical laser treatment results. As is inevitably the case, something else came along shortly afterwards to distract my attention, so it's only know that I'm finally getting around to testing it out.

The headline-grabbing claim made by Clinique for Repairwear Laser Focus was that regular use of the product for six weeks resulted in an improvement to the skin that was 63% as effective as the results of laser treatment. Considering that laser treatment would be a big step for the average consumer, and not only in terms of cost, the results are very interesting, and even more so when you consider the accessible price tag of €48.

The anti-ageing promises made by this serum are based on the inclusion of vitamin C, various anti-oxidants, a retinol derivative, hyaluronic acid and various peptides, as well as vitamin E and amino acids. All sounds great so far - these ingredients have all been proven to be very effective in terms of anti-ageing.

However, I do note that these ingredients come in a good bit down on the list and behind lots and lots of silicones. The use of silicones isn't surprising - they are widely used to plump up fine lines and give a smooth look to skin, but their results are optical and temporary. The fact that they are at the top of the ingredient list makes me wonder about the efficacy of the more serious anti-ageing ingredients. In addition, silicones tend not to agree with my skin, but I'm still willing to give the product a shot.

First impressions are good - the serum is light, fragrance-free and easily absorbed. My skin does feel immediately smoother and the fact that it can be used in the eye area is a bonus. My skin also feels perhaps a little tighter than it usually does with the plant oil-based serums I typically use, so I'm making sure to wear a hydrating cream on top of the serum. But so far, I've no problems with it and am pleased with the smooth, even look it gives my skin.

Having passed the first impressions test, I'll continue to use this and will be reporting back in six weeks or so on the long-term effects, so watch this space!
