I realised recently that, despite all the black eyeliners I own, I much prefer navy blue on my eyes. Black is a classic for a reason and I'd never be without my black liquid liners from Shiseido and Chanel, but navy is just much more flattering on me.
It makes the whites of my eyes brighter, neutralising any redness which can make me look tired. It also highlights the colour of my blue-green eyes much more than black does. And somehow it has the capacity to lessen the impact of dark shadows under my eyes, making me look much more awake.
Navy is perfect for a more low-key and less harsh look than black for daytime, but it can also look very glam at night - I often do a subtly shimmery eyelid with a thick swoop of navy blue gel liner for a night out and a shimmery navy blue has even more impact.
