Say What? Dalai Lama's Thoughts On a Future Female Dalai Lama

This is perplexing - especially as it's coming from someone who's a self-professed feminist and all round spiritual being.

During an interview with BBC’s Clive Myrie, the 14th Dalai Lama said: "The female biologically [has] more potential to show affection...and compassion. If female Dalai Lama come, then that female must be very attractive in the face, otherwise not much use."

When he was asked if he was joking, he responded: "No, true!"

In fact, when he was accepting the International Freedom Award a while back, he said "I call myself a feminist. Isn’t that what you call someone who fights for women’s rights?" It's also someone who doesn't objectify women, or shares a similar view to Silvio Berlusconi.

You can see the comments in the below interview from the 5:00 minute mark. Thankfully he was more levelheaded when it came to speaking about the refugee crisis and "generalising Islam."
