Make up brushes

Postby glitterlamp » Fri Mar 16, 2012 10:48 pm

Hi everyone - This is my first official post (usually just browse the site daily), so hello!

Anyway, the reason for this topic. I made my first ever purchase at the Bobbi Brown counter today (a concealer), and decided to be all professional so I bought an application brush. I nearly lost my life when I realised it was €26. My question to you all is, is there a collection of brushes out there (foundation, eyeshadow brushes etc.) that are very reasonably priced, but won't break after the first use?

Much appreciated!

Hi I'm a makeup artist and i'd really recommend checking out crown brushes: www.crownbrush.co.uk/

They have a lot of brushes that are the same as MAC ones but much cheaper. These are the best cheap brushes I have come across and I have tried many brands!
Welcome to beaut.ie by the way! :D

Sigma brushes are excellent and the shipping is very reasonable - they designed most of the brushes around MAC ones & then came out with their own line of Sigmax brushes which are actually great too

Thanks for the responses! I'll check both suggestions out. I just can't believe how expensive brushes are. It's crazy!

Inglot brushes are great too, some are just like Mac brushes but about half the price!

I have a range of budget and branded bruses. I love my mac 217, 109, 139 and the slanted liner one. My brothers go the the states a good bit so I ask for one brushe at a time. I getting the 138 next time - they love this as all they do is show the text to the girl and there is a mac counter everywhere.

I have a few of the no.7 and they are fine and you can use the voucher.

Elf ones are nice too as so so cheap.

Build it up over time as you will find you will use certain brushes all the time.

I really like EcoTools, you can pick up a set of about 4 or 5 brushes in Boots for about 20 euro and individually for about 8-10ish each :)

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman (aka pixiwoo) has the most amazing brushes, reasonably priced. Best I have ever used.

My first post on this too after looking at the forums for a good while :):) I got a set from mineralmakeup.ie. I did buy through groupon on though so did get it reduced. They are lovely brushes, though I have only used the blusher, powder and foundation brush- havent a clue what to use the rest for! I do love the MAC Duofibre brush, find it absolutely great for putting on foundation- no lines or streaks. I find it great myself :)
