Cupcakes - I think the effectiveness of Curves depends on your weight, age and fitness. I joined when I was 20. I had put on some weight in college and wanted to get rid of it. I didn't have a job that summer so I was able to go 5 days a week. I didn't have much to lose really but I wasn't exceptionally fit or toned. I joined for 3 months.

The best bit I found was that they weigh and measure you. (The measuring being the most important bit)

So, my results were:

Month 1: lost no weight. None. Nada. Disgusted. Did I lose inches? Eh....no. Very demotivating.
Month 2: lost no weight AGAIN. Had apparently lost 1.5 inches but I wasn't buying it. I was starting to see that this just wasn't working out. (Pardon the pun) My last month there I barely went. Instead I did Davina McCaul's DVD and also pilates at home. The result was much better!
Month 3: Weighed in 2lbs lighter and I had lost 8 inches around the different areas. (well she said 10 but I think they may have taken it wrong the first time.)The lady measuring me was only thrilled. I didn't tell her that it had NOTHING to do with bloody curves.

That's just my experience. Others may have found it good.

Hi,

I joined this a few years ago and did it for about 10 months. I was about 23/24 at the time. I think it depends on the group you join, I was in donnybrook and to be fair there was nearly always someone in the middle encouraging people and different exercises on the "non machine spots". My mum joined a different branch down the country and i went a couple of times with my "visitor pass" and it wasn't great, you'd want to be pretty motivated to push yourself on the way around.

I didn't have much weight to lose but I definately toned up during the time I did it. It's a great 30 minute work out especially if you push yourself on the "non machine spots". Sometimes I'd do more than the 30 minutes - an extra circuit or something. It's also good to help you get in a gym routine. I'd never have went near any gym equipment besides a treadmill before curves.

also, not sure how much it is and you definately would need to be dieting with it for noticable weightloss.

A friend of mine did curves.

The usual, give bank details and they take money out of account.

Apparently it was a hassle and a half trying to leave. They kept taking money out of her account.....

She had to threaten legal action and the likes. She hasn't got anything good to say about it.

Big rig-a-ma-roll about the whole thing.
