Smelly hot press/airing cupboard!

Postby CiB » Thu Dec 08, 2011 3:41 pm

Slightly strange query -

I live in an old house and currently don't really use the hot press, as everything comes out with an old, musty smell. It's not extremely strong, but towels and sheets go in smelling fresh and come out smelling like they've been hidden away for a decade. Space is getting tight now, so I really need to start using the hot press again and I want to freshen it up first. I'm going to try baking soda, but all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

EWW. That would drive me absolutely demented too. I have no solution, sorry I'm not being helpful - just urg! Try leaving the door open for a few days to air it out good and proper and give it a good clean out? There could be an old jcloth or something stuffed behind the tank that's causing the smell

I'm going to tackle it tomorrow! It's an old, dusty house, so it might just need a good clean. I'm determined to beat it!!!

Ya, a good clean (the febreeze flash leaves a lovely scent actually). Also try putting some tumble dryer sheets on the shelves to give off a nice scent.
