Hello! I went to galway this year on my sisters hens, we stayed in the western apts. They were GORGEOUS. Not too expensive either. it was 140 for 2 nights, but that included a cocktail making class. I can get you the details if ud like to think about it?

Hi boredmum

we used http://www.coyotes.ie/ for our cocktail making class, if you email them, they will tell you the activities they do!

http://www.thewestern.ie/luxury-apartments.html we stayed here. they were really fab. Id say just email n say theres a group going.

In total it cost us €150 each. Not too bad. 20 for the class, 120 for the apt and then 10e for pizza one night. On the first night we stayed in n had a pj party. We got my sisters fiance to ans qs and if she got em wrong, she'd to do a shot.. (out of an egg cup as we forgot shot glasses!) we then got playdough n moulded willys n all that stuff. Very funny.

We also did up a hen book for her. Got all ehr friends and family to write memories and good wishes in it . Some people who couldnt go, we got them to pop stuff in too. It was really nice. Then we headed out. Galway is perfect for it cos theres reps everywhere. Dont ask how, but we ended up in a gay bar. Very funny. Then onto carbon nightclub. Was a bit meh. Karma is very good, so is the skeff.

We (the 3 bridesmaids) paid for my sis to get her hair done & her makeup done in mac too.

We all dressed in black n my sister in white, we got her funny stuff to carry along with her. A blow up doll, n i robbed a pair of boxers from her fiance n popped em on him. If you want more ideas let me know, we had LOADS !

Lauralou -

Thank you sooooooo much :D for all that info, that is absolutely fantastic, and perfect for our price range, will probably rob all your ideas for the weekend, a PJ Party sounds perfect for the 1st night and i love the idea about the Hen Book, i am going to ask my sis who she wants to invite so that i can start arranging and getting quotes, its about 2 weeks before valentines so hopefully we will get the hotel cheap enough.... i have so much to work from with all this info, thanks again *major hugs*

cheers

Hey. I am the queen of hens, over the last two years I've been to about 10 LOL! the best was my sister's in Galway, the worse was my ex's sister's hen in Galway.

My sister's hen: Galway, one night. Stayed in Carlton Hotel (very hen friendly have stayed their for 3 hens ....) No activity. I hired a small function room. Did : this s your life video slideshow, memory game, mr and mrs game, how well do you know bride game, wedding traditions quiz . Prizes of bubbles, tiaras etc. Had gift bags for all at it with headache tablets, sweets, tissues etc. Then dinner in Milano and reserved area in the Skeff. Was easy hen night and really reasonable for all. No theme as sister was dead against anything!
a

Ex's sister's hen. Also Galway, also the carlton. 2 nighter. Problem was the first night was full on that we were all dying on the second night. people were tired and crabby and hen had a fight w bridemsaids. can't remember much more about it but it was the fight that was bad. dinner in the carlton was also just so so.

Other galway hen- really good apart from the theme on the second night. First night we did bollywood dancing ( again function room in the Carlton). The bridemaids were really strict though. Friday night was a quiet night in the hotel, it was lovely actually and left us in good state for saturday. activity was kayaking which people loved ( except me cos im scared of open water). Then dinner and the skeff again! But we had to wear hi vis vests :(

Best restaurant on a hen night: Man friday in Kinsale
Best cocktail making: the Landmark in Carrick on Shannon
Worst cocktail making: some place in Kinsale
Best place: moon river cruise in Carrick, so much fun
Best activity; spa weekend in The Osprey in Naas
Best game : making wedding dresses from toilet rolls in my house for a small hen.

My favourite theme: wigs in Carrick ( I had a blue bob loved it), black and bling in Carrick, Rose of Tralee in naas
Last favourite: the hi vis vests! Black dress and crazy tights ( just cos my tights were manky).

Hope that helped!

Hi Scarie

Wow i think you are the queen of Hens, lol, thanks for all that information,

i am really really really hoping my sister agrees to Galway, coz i just love it, Love the Wigs Idea, i have my eye on one in Pennies its Pink, lol . I would prefer to do just one night to be honest coz i'm no good for having no sleep, but its her Hen so she makes the rules, I just want to make it the best Hen Weekend for her,

Its great coz Galway City is only just over and Hour from Mullingar, so shouldn't be too expensive to hire a bus, i hope lol. I have asked her to hurry up and make a list of who she wants to invite so that i can go ahead and get prices for the hotels, Is the Carlton near Eyre Square???

Cheers

No that's the only bad thing about it , it is out a bit near GMIt but taxis in are cheap. Galway is so handy from Mullingar. Partly Mullingar based myself ( the bf is there) . Pink wigs would be cool!!!
