Thanks for that Meabh. Think I may have to do the same and just run two nights in a row. I really want to do a relay with some friends in the Cork marathon in June so I need to step it up a bit!
It's really good to hear some feedback though, there doesn't seem to be many around at the same stage of the program anymore.

Not a problem, anytime!
It is nice to have someone thats at the same stage though.... Fair play to you doing the Cork marathon! I ve registered for half marathon in Achill (with all those hills) in July! Must be mad.....

We ll just have to push each other to get off our asses because i really dont wanna make a fool of myself ;)

Let me know how u get one with the 2nites in a row (its really not that bad)

Did W3D2 last night and struggled so badly, it was really discouraging :( . Hadn't done anything since last Thursday and was still shattered from the weekend so am telling myself that was the reason. Going to try again tonight so fingers crossed.

Hi All!
You ladies are all flying it - well done!

I'm embarassed its so long since I've posted or ran
Got back into it last night - had left off on W5 & was dreading the 20min run BUT I did it last night!! Was only planning on doing W5D2 with the 8min runs but just kept going & pushed myself - so happy I managed my first 20min run after weeks of nothing!

Hi all, I'm a newbie to this site & I've just registered so this is my first post :-)
I'm going to try this couch to 5k plan this week! My only problem being I'm 15 stone, only 5foot 4 & wondering if u all were slim toned & fit before ye started or like me - completely overweight & a novice!! I am gonna give it a go anyway but would love some feedback! Thanx in advance..

vikkib - you don't need to slim to run, lots of people have started running when they're very overweight. Just take it easy and if you feel like you want to repeat some weeks, don't hesitate to do that. It's very important to build it up slowly. Make sure you have good shoes as well.

Two 20 mins runs down this week & hoping for another this evening :)

Vikkib - as Tina said, just take it at your own pace & you'll be into it in no time - best of luck!

Fair Play Emz,

I ve been so bold lately, haven t done anything proper in ages til last Tues. I decided it was time to ditch the threadmill and go outside. It was a total disaster! Felt like I was back in week 1! So I enlisted my Dad (very fit) as a boot camp-esque instructor to get me moving on saturday morning and d'ya know it wasnt as bad. We didnt really keep to 3mins or 5 mins, it was more to the next big tree as we were in the woods. He wanted to see how bad I really was first

So that out of the way I decided to go it alone this eve back down in Waterford, its just so hard outside on your own but i guess its a matter of gritting teeth and getting on with it, prob should ve never started on threadmill :D I ll get there eventually, I ll still got 14wks til half marathon.............. ?

How is everyone else getting on?

Maebh

I was the exact same when i switched from treadmill to outside felt like i was starting all over again but don't worry it will get easier soon!!
I kind of hit a stopping point between wk 5/6 and my holidays i couldn't seem to reach the 20min run. I joined a running club a couple of weeks ago and things have gotten better as have done a couple of 5k runs with people in the same boat as myself. I'm still finding the running a struggle and am very slow but it defnitley seems to get that little bit better everytime.
if you can find someone to jog with you it makes such a difference as you can encourage each other to keep going!

Keep up the training and make yourself a good playlist and you will get there :)

I got the Nike + Ipod gear (Runners with a little sensor that links withyour Ipod) about a month or so ago and found it great!

Basically it records your time, distance, calories burnt and gives you motivation by way of little comments like "your half way there, and only 1 kilometer left". You can compile a set list of running songs with your "power song" to give you a boost.

I think its great so far and definately helps me to keep the bordome at bay
