Victoria Jackson: Enough Already

Jesus Victoria Jackson will yis ever shag off.

I can’t tell you how many enquiries I’ve had to field lately from people wondering what Victoria Jackson makeup is like. Usually because a representative had called to their place of work/ front door and persuaded them to buy a feckin caseload of the stuff.

No, we don’t recommend them and here’s why:

Never trust anyone who has been saying for the last year or so that they will be in BTs ‘soon’. No you won’t be in BTs soon Victoria Jackson. And in fact if I were involved with the management of BTs Beauty Hall I would track you down and kick your ass.

Never trust men/women with cases full of makeup calling to your work or trying to doorstop you. Is this the hallmark of a reputable company? Eh, no. It’s a bit like getting one of those stickers through the door for clothes collection. Or the beautiful original works of art.

Never trust something that’s marketed as too good to be true. It IS too good to be true!

It was when they called to the door of Beaut.ie Parents, the workplace of Beaut.ie Sister AND Beaut.ie Pals in the same week I thought enough already! (All located in different areas).

Now if you’d like to prove me wrong Victoria Jackson Cosmetics Ltd please feel free to send us some of your lovely makeup to try and we will review it without prejudice. I would love to post a picture of your fine makeups but it seems you don’t have a website. And if you also have some confirmation of your imminent arrival in BTs sure send that along too.

So it’s over to you, Beaut.ies. What have your experiences of Victoria Jackson been?

Liked that? Then you'll like these:

  • My friend was interviewed to work for them having been told she’d be going to salons and shops etc, but the first day there she was driven to Mayo and made walk around with a guy trying to sell them

  • Kitty Cat says:

I foolishly answered the door at work to find a French girl wearing questionable eyeshadow and a fella from Dublin who looked like he’d rather be eating Blu-tack trying to flog some boxes of stuff for €200 that looked like it came out of a pound shop. “Have you ever heard of Victoria Jackson?” Eh, no.

  • Flame says:

My mum got my sister some of their stuff before cos they were selling it at her work, i know there’s a big eyeshadow palette, i’m not sure how she finds it but when i’m home i’ll ask her and give them a shot myself and report back!

  • Cherry says:

    Is it this crowd maybe?

    http://www.vmakeup.com/

They’re an american company it seems.

  • michelle says:

i bought some of their stuff through work. The eyeshadows are nice

  • cathyfly says:

My sister was raving about a palette of their makeup she got as a present & also said the eyeshadows were lovely…

Then i literally got pounced on walking down Baggot St last week by an Aussie girl plastered in makeup and carrying a bag of stuff. ‘No I don’t want to try on or buy makeup on the side of the road in the middle of the day!’ – Not classy. Totally put me off no matter how nice their eyeshadows are.
    BTs my eye.

  • red mum says:

I got accosted by one of the sales people/women as we queued for the habitat sale. It was like a marketers dream, she moved her way along the crowd.

I felt sorry for her, we all have to make a living, but she really did a hard sale and I wasn;t interested, no matter how all-in-one and everything you’ll ever need it was, or the lovely colours. And how much money I will save by spending about €70..

The fact the woman’s own make up was badly blended with streaks across her cheek didn’t fill me with confidence either. I had to laugh as well as she was towing a very uncomfortable bloke with her who stood holding the samples. And we were given teh soon to be in Brown Thomas line also.

So in case they read this, I am NEVER going to part with the guts of €100 to a stranger selling me shite on the street, EVER.

  • Roseyrosie says:

Littlemisswonders, that happened me! Except it was Nenagh, I was with two questionable gentlemen and had no way of getting out of there, so had to go door-to-door for the whole day asking if people in the town wanted to hear about our “very special offers”.

That said, I have some Victoria Jackson makeup, a palette me ma (bless ‘er) got suckered into buying, and I quite like it. Nice eyeshadows, handy little palette thing, decent enough brushes… not hating it, but I don’t see it in BTs soon. Kind of reminds me of Pupa [where is that gone!] without the cutesey packaging.

  • Rosey, about three years ago I was looking for work and ended up doing being suckered into accepting a job selling restaurant voucher cards (having applied for an admin job). On the first day ‘in the field’, I lasted two hours before telling the guy I was out of there…sooo not worth it, there’s no way you’d make enough to live on!

  • Ladyelle says:

this is the first I’ve ever even heard of them !!!

  • penny says:

    ^ Me too!

  • MontyC says:

Believe me, you’re not missing anything.

And as for arrival in BT’s…. my considerable arse they are

  • Lilo says:

I have the big eyeshadow pallet, someone gave it to me a gift. Lets just say its crap. The colours dont really show up, its like cheap constance carrol in texture, staying power etc. The best thing about the pallet is that I now have a nice big mirror to use for plucking eyebrows….

  • Lisa-Lou says:

My friend works for the company, I have to admit that the products are quite nice but i find it hard to understand how they can sell – an eyeshadow palette, a set of brushes (5 brushes) and a palette of lipstick all for €30!?!?!? Thats cheaper than Carroll Cosmetics!!!!
Also Im not too happy with the 6 “sellers” that have arrived at my door over the last 5 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Breige says:

I’ve been stopped 3 times at work in West Clare(twice last summer, once this summer)and once in the middle of the street in Cork City.told them no all 4 times.the first time at work was funny,I was in the shop part when they stoped to ask me(and I was tryin to serve customers!) and I told them no.so they went to reception area and when she said no they asked would anyone in behind reception would like it.she said it was a bunch of guys and he kept persisting, asking them would any relatives or girlfriends like it.my boyfriend just called out ‘you’d have to ask my girlfriend yourself, she’s in the shop’!bet your man was so disappointed.and yes,I got the BT line and was also told that the packaging was made by the same people who do GHDs.could have sworn they mentioned something about M.A.C. but can’t remember….
that said,my friend did buy soon and it’s nice enough.though I think next time I’ll just tell them I bought soon the last time!

  • Miss C says:

My poor uncle bought me a pile of this last year..god love him,he thought it was bril,i think he though it was something to do with Victoria Beckham!!!! Dont ask….
I tried it out…pure trash….gave it to my little cousin…never quite told my uncle thou :L

  • loulou lashes says:

i have just had two reps this minute call in to the office trying to sell me Victoria Jackson makeup…getting so fed up of them calling in at this stage. i do feel sorry for the poor devils they must get sick of people saying no to them

  • Suzy says:

So glad I work alone and if out on the street I am in motor scooter so like the chuggers I can sail on by if they threaten to come near me (or threaten to run over them!).

The post has made me laugh so much – fact checking Beaut.ie style!

I think we need to rig someone up with a microphone/video to show the spiel online…

  • Mabellester says:

Myself and a work colleague got a buzz on the door downstairs one day and openind the door thinking it was a courier. Up arrives this young fellow, v. Camp telling us he just wanted to ask us a few questions. He then preceded to give us a huge sales pitch about Victoria Jackson and how JLO & Posh use her the whole time.He then wanted us to buty some. We promptly told him it was Mac & Bobby Brown for us. V annoying he was there for ages and kind of felt sorry for him in the end. Would hate his job.

  • Briege, I got the Mac line too, can’t remember what it was, but think it was along the lines of ‘the people behind mac have come up with this’ – eh no they didn’t, the people at mac know how to make makeup last!

  • sunshine says:

We get them in at least once a month trying to sell…last Christmas I asked my Mam for a few Mac eyeshadows and then when it came to Christmas she had bought the Victoria Jackson palettes for me as they told her it was the same as if not better than Mac!! Bless her, she was all excited…I had to pretend to use it for a while!! Not strong pigment or nice texture…

  • Nix says:

i got accosted by a young gent who was quite persuasive, so i probs would have shelled out if i hadnt just spent 100euro on other rubbish i didnt really need.

It was at his offer of going for a drink together that I thought maybe he is less interested in the product he is trying to sell himself, and therefore I should not care about it either :)

  • Breige says:

littlemisswonders, that’s the line I got now that you mention it!and I think I got the J.Lo line as well at one stage,so hard to remember what they’ve said to me,seeing as they’ve come at me 4 times and I’ve blocked the memories out!

  • GracieBear says:

Bought some last year when I wasnt beaut.ie savvy. Pure rubbish, all got thrown out.

  • MontyC says:

I have zero pity for these guys. We had to get security to escort a gang of them out of here last year. There was no talking to them. They tried every trick in the book to get in but fair play to our receptionist, she wasn’t having any of it!

  • tor says:

I went to the Ultimate girls day out with my sister 2 weeks ago and they had a stand there selling this stuff telling people it was MINERAL MAKE-UP, so i asked for the ingredients and they couldnt tell me i laughed and waslked away its aload of muck

  • Rowan says:

One of the “sellers” came into our building a few weeks ago, the rest of the office had gone for tea so i told her i didn’t wear mak-up and there were no other women in the building…. just as she was walking out the front door didn’t all the girls come back from tea- her face was priceless- i felt bad but it was the best lie i could think of at the time!!!

  • sparklicous says:

i was working in an office about 6 months ago and i was training a girl on reception with an intellectual disability. they came in and gave us the talk. this girl comes accross as being very able, but she really isn’t, so i told them that they should probably go because she hasn’t any money. it was two guys and she doesn’t get to talk to very good looking guys very often so she was extremely interested in talking to them. she didn’t know what eye shadow was. i told them to please leave but they wouldn’t talk to me anymore and kept ignoring me. so after about 25 mins i had to throw them out using very strong language and threatening to call the police. it was really selfish and ignorant of them to stay there chatting up the girl beside me so that they could make money off her.

  • CarolineJ says:

tor- How was the ultimate day out, was at Electric Picnic and missed it

  • Lisa says:

Sounds like the Mary Kay ladies we have in the States. It’s a crazy scheme…they have people scout out young professional-looking women, give them some shallow compliment to try and strike up a conversation like: “I LOVE your shoes,” and then they try selling you all this crap make-up. It’s so annoying.

  • Chica says:

Haven’t seen anything like this in the ‘pool, heehee, they sound incredibly annoying!

  • sinbad says:

My friend has a small palette and the colours dont come out at all!It looks gud but when you but it on makes no difference….its mac all the way for me on eyeshadows.

  • nikki says:

oh no!!! just bought some last week when i was taking shelter in the doorway in Stephens green shopping centre! i was sad and wet and needed a pick-me-up and sure, 4 lip glosses, 2 eyeshadow pallets and the brushes set did the trick. but for 30euro i thought it was ok, am thrilled with the brushes, am not so thrilled with the mascara…walked into work one day to find it somewhere near my chin :(

  • Christina says:

My mum came home after work one day with 30 euros worth. Have to admit I haven’t really tested it out. I think its somewhere in my wardrobe. I must fish it out and see if it’s as bad as the reviews.

  • Marena says:

They called to my Mum’s (who’s in her 70′s and doesn’t wear makeup) and when she said she didn’t have the money in the house the guy gave her a funny look and said ‘you don’t have it?’

  • jill says:

janey lads ive never met any of these pushers at all. maybe the fact that i naturally wear the expression that causes people to say cheer up love in the street to me, means im unapproachable!

  • ladyA says:

Have been stopped about 6 times on Grafton St by these Victoria Jackson people. I now just tell them a little lie: “I tried the range and am allergic to it” – this seems to be the only way to stop their hard sell!
I think young people are actually fairly savvy to their ways but it seems to be more so people in their 50′s and 60′s that are being lured by them. My Mother and her friends have all been attracted by the ‘it will be in BT’s soon’ line!

  • I don’t get why they bother telling you the packaging is the same as that of the ghd, if you heat up the pallette will it straighten your hair? I don’t think so! And its not as if anyone would leave their straightener down on top of their make up either…

I really don’t get why they have guys selling it though? George Clooney could try and sell it to me but I still wouldn’t be buying…I might kidnap him but leave the makeup behind (let him write a message in the makeup but it wouldn’t last long anyways!)

  • jenny says:

i cant believe i just got roped into buying the products, exactly the same deal as most of the people, and i would usually never buy anything from a sales person but they were so persuasive!! what an idiot!!

Ive done some research as soon as I came home and although it’s not as ‘designer’ as i was told it doesn’t seem like Ive wasted that much money, may just have to give it as a gift!!

I’m paranoid now my eyelids might fall off!!

  • Jen says:

My brother was conned into buying some of this about a year ago but he got a lot of different things for 15 euro. my sis used the lip gloss and was happy enough with it.
A woman came do our door two weeks ago. My Dad answered and said that my mum wasnt in and maybe come back another time…she came back no less than 5 mins later. Felt sorry for her really.
I even saw this stuff being sold at a supermarket in San Diego in July. Had a little giggle for myself!

  • Helen says:

    Hi beauties,
A Victoria Jackson salesman pushed his way into our office this afternoon and our naive receptionist agreed to pedal his wares( So to speak) for him. He was really pushy with her and asked her to sell it to as many people as possible. Thank for commenting on it a few days ago; i was able to put her straight. The CHEEK of him grrrr.
PS The make up looks like PURE CRAP

  • Sharon says:

    Hi ladies,

You have not been as conned with victoria jackson as you think. I had the pleasure of working as a ‘seller’ over the summer months while being ‘promoted’ to trainee manager in that time. So I have lots of insider info for you.

First of all – never buy it – ever. You are only buying into a multi-level marketing scam and sourcing the people at the top. Its a scam – just goggle pro-sales or marketing direct.

You may wonder why I starting selling it. Well I was really stuck for a summer job with nothing else so decided to give this a go. Full time jobs being pretty scarce and I was just out of college so needed the money. Please have pity and compassion on these ‘sellers’. They are only pushy out of desperation. You sell the VJ sets at 30 euro each and get 8 euro commission per set. And if you don’t sell anything..you don’t get anything. No basic wage. So you have to do well each day to make decent money. I was lucky that I had the knack of it early on. I used to make between 250-600 euro per week. It would all depend on my mood, the weather, the people, the time, the location…etc The hours are long…I worked 9.30 am until 9pm each day monday – saturday. You also pay for all your own transport and food. So you would have to make about 3 sales before you make a ‘profit’ that day. Now you may understant why these poor suckers are sooo pushy!! Maybe offer them a job to get them off the dole..you don’t pay tax…its all cash-in hand so most of them are on the dole…to afford food and stuff!! I was fully brainwashed, over-worked and too tired to wake up to the reality!!.

Luckily for me I had to return to college to start a phd (yes some salespeople have brains :) and woke up to the corruption!

Please, please if you know anyone working/going for an interview with this gang…stop them! Also Victoria Jackson does not exist as a person…if she is a ‘famous make-up artist’ then why can’t you find her on whipedia??? All the make-up is made in China and packaged in fancy boxes to hype up their value… Don’t buy it…don’t harass the sellers though…they are mere victims of todays greed of society…

  • Cris says:

I just got tackled getting out of my car – with my baby- by a seller. Here is the deal: a “eye-shadow/chick stuff/lip stuff” palette an eye shadow (6 colors) kitt lip stuff (4 colors) set of brushes for $20. I don’t know what part of my brain stopped functionning at this time but I said yes. Obviously is all made in China. For that price it can’t be any good, but I haven’t tried it yet. Maybe I wrap it up and put it aside for “secret santa”….sykes!

  • Jaysus Sharon..that sounds awful!!!

  • Tara_mc says:

    Hey guys,

Ive very sensitve lips and cheeks this stuff didnt make me break out!So am happy with it!!
Brushes great quality!! but will avoid the mascara if im offered!!lol!!

  • Caitriona says:

I’m a receptionist in D4 and I’m always having to chase these people out of my office. They want to leave samples of their make up in my office for people to look at and purchase at a later stage.
I told them I can’t keep products in my reception as our insurance doesn’t cover it, but feel free to leave some of your business cards.
They claimed to be ‘out of business cards’ but took out a scrap of paper, and wrote their mobile number, and and victoriajackson.com. No landline number, no address,no comeback. They had the cheek to return a few days later and ask ME if people had shown any interest! I told them I hadn’t a clue,it’s not my responsibility to promote another company’s product, and I’ve no intention of encouraging my colleagues to buy stuff from people who have no permanent address, contact details, and I don’t know where the stuff comes from! Again, I suggested that they leave some of their business cards,if they want my people to contact them, but they never have any!

Ok guys, this is a complete and utter SCAM .

  • Shivers says:

Hey, I think they do have a web site: http://www.vmakeup.com/3about.html

  • Nicole says:

Hi all, I’m from the states and came across this blog from a google search for Victoria Jackson cosmetics. I haven’t tried them, but I wanted to share my experience with them here in the states.

They have a little stand outside a fast food place near where I work, and they’ve been trying to get me to stop all week. I finally stopped and said “ok, so what is this then?” and the VERY aggressive saleswoman looked thrilled that I stopped and proceeded to give me her salespitch: “I see that you’re a natural beauty, do you ever wear cosmetics? Have you heard of Victoria Jackson?” blah blah something about MAC and Clinique (I think) “here, check out this kit, retails for $69.95, we’re selling it for only $10″ I told her politely I’d think about it and stop by on my way home from work. $10 for the 4 eyeshadow, 2 blushes, 4 lipsticks kit is pretty good if the makeup is any good.
As soon as I got to my computer I google searched to see what I could find on these people. Highest online price for the kit is $35, lowest is $13, so I’m a bit irritated that they lied to me so blatantly, I guess hoping they could sell it to me before I found out it’s not as good as they say it is. Needless to say, I won’t be stopping by on the way home, I’ll walk a different way. The aggressive pitch and especially the lies were really off-putting.

(I was still considering buying it until I came across this blog. So thank you to all of you who have tried it and posted your opinions of its quality.)

  • ........ says:

i was in blackpool walked through woolworths and i got called over by some woman. she started sayin its all really good make up and i should buy it for a bargin of £30 for 4lip glosses, lip sticks, bronzer and eye shaddows she also started saying that it’s not out yet it’ll be in debenhams and on QVC within the next month and will be ranging within the price areas of £30 for each item. I thought it was a good offer i was getting, so my antie bought it for me as a birthday present. when i got home i looked on here and now regretting asking her to buy it for me.
i will be trying the make up in 3weeks, then i will also post another comment to let all you people know what i think of it and if its worth buying.
