Aveda Dry Remedy

aveda dry remedy

If your hair has been a bit dry and frazzled lately, Aveda’s new Dry Remedy collection might be just what you need. Promising to improve even the most dry and brittle hair by “up to 63%”, the collection includes shampoo, conditioner and a treatment masque, based on buruti oil, pomegranate and palm-derived conditioners.

I have many other haircare favourites from Aveda, so I’ll definitely be trying this line out as soon as I can.

do they do shampoo for coloured hair? ie blonde

I used the Damage Rescue range before and its really nice. Have bleached hair at the mo so only using the Redken Blonde Glam and a Loreal techni range once a week to keep that horrible brassy yellow look off my hair.

Ja – it’s called colour conserve

  • Admin says:

Must say, I love aveda haircare

    dying to try this!

t-cup, they also have a lovely colour-enhancing range – the chamomile shampoo and conditioner is for blonde hair

Boo hiss I say. This is supposed to be the replacement for Sap Moss. Which is gorrrrrgeousss and I guess that’s why it’s being discontinued. This stuff is nowhere near as good.

Also, the new Smooth Infusions is frankly tosh. Not to be confused with the Smoothing Fluid in the very good Light Elements styling range, a sort-of-serum.

Some of the other samples I’ve tried were OK. One for coloured hair – really gentle, so good for many kinds of hair besides the tinted. The damage remedy one was pretty good, but not as good as the old Curessence it’s replacing (it smelled nicer, more like the Shampure).

If you’ve got normal hair and haven’t been abusing it too much, and are looking for great stuff that smells amazing, try out the Brilliant shampoo and conditioner; there’s also a very nice heat-styling spray in the same range. The new men’s range also gets a thumbs up. Aveda maybe haven’t caught on to how good and well-loved these two are yet, so don’t tell them and then maybe they won’t discontinue them …

well, on the flip side, they’re bringing back the clove shampoo for their 30th birthday.

I have a feeling they’re possibly discontinuing / reworking products based on ingredients and sources to fit in with their policies on ethics.

I have a sample of this. I like it but wasn’t totally blown away as I was with the Be Curly range.

Gingerrama, they do tend to discontinue really nice products, like the Cherry Almond Bark conditioner. I do like the Smooth Infusions conditioner, however; it’s brilliant for when I want to straighten my hair. I’m just hoping they don’t mess with the Shampure shampoo, which I love (though it took me a while to come around to it after they reformulated it the last time…).

worth a look I guess as it Aveda…I just wonder where they get these stats from…”63% improvement!” sounds a bit randon :-)

  • xgirl says:

Now Lilo, I’m sure that percentage is based on stringent testing and wasn’t just made up on the spot like the rumoured 78% of statistics… ;)

  • Gingerrama says:

Heheh. I love statistics. They always make me smils and therefore cheer up.

Admin – that’s FANTASTIC news about the clove shampoo!!!

Mind you, I’m curious about the ethics claim – I guess there must be serious issues with sourcing the main ingredient in the Sap Moss range from Iceland, that famously third-world country with lousy environmental and other ethical credentials …

  • Gingerrama says:

that was “smile” – I was so happy about the 63% improvement and 78% of stats … see the effect statistics have on me … Some women need several drinks, a lot of chocolate, and a wink from some gorgeous creature to get this giddy!

Got this in America recently. Been using it for about 3 wks now. Its pretty good, especially the treatment. Takes a bit longer to rinse than other shampoos etc and can flatten the hair a bit if you dont. Got it cheap over there, not sure that it would be worth the price here.

  • Admin says:

ginger – possibly it wasn’t sustainable, I don’t know about that particular ingredient. Ethics and sustainability are really key issues in beauty at the moment and I know that Aveda are very keen to source in a responsible manner.

  • Gingerrama says:

Aha … intrigued … Admin, you’re teasing us! Do I sense more posts in the works, or indeed Sunday supplements coming up?

I’m happy about this business. Still miss the old Sap Moss, kept my hair happy in colder drier winters elsewhere, but I guess I won’t be needing it so much here. And still in post-stat-appreciation glow …
See, Aveda was one of the very first modern ethical companies, decades ago, so it’s good to see them continuing to be at the forefront. Them and other companies going green (or greener) often gets accused of being more or less cynical greenwashing. Whether it’s genuine, market-led, or fashion-following – can’t be bad thing as good end result?

  • Admin says:

possibly – I’m interested in it and have been doing a bit of research.
