Ahhh thanks for the welcomes! No it was a prescription tablet the doc put me on. It’s quite strong though but I was so depressed with my skin at the time I just couldn’t think of what else to do and it paid off – thankfully! I know how bad it feels not having the best of skin and trying to do everything to cover it and spending a lot of money trying to get it good.
Kerry Gurl – I know a couple of girls who had tried everything and roccutane worked brilliantly for them too. There’s really only so far topical treatments can go and I agree the doc is the one to go too to sort a serious skin problem out
I was on roaccutane for 6 months about 5 years ago – it’s a pill that contains extremely high doses of Vitamin A. While I was on it my skin really dried out (like my lips would peel and the inside of my nose and my eyes were really dry) but after I came off it no sign of any spots for over two years. Alas but then I moved to London and amongst the polluted air, terrible water and increased pint drinking habits, the spots returned. Since I moved to Dublin though it’s much better!
One bad side though – they’ve since linked taking roaccutane to the onset of depression, and I fell into this category (have been on anti-d’s for 4 years now)….
Perfectil is a fantastic vitamin for skin, it really does work, I have recommended it to so many prople, guys included. You can get it at any good chemist.
I bought THREE pairs of shiny new Chews yesterday. Oh the sales!Trying to muster up guilt today but nowhere to be found. And then to make things worse I found a dress in mago which was made for one of the pairs of chews I had just bought in Arnotts. No will power. It had to be bought.
G’Day ladies, my mum was looking at a few mineral foundations recently but was having trouble knowing what one she should go for. I wasn’t able to help as I haven’t used any and we’d have quite different skin type.
She was looking at the L’Oreal mineral make up, but we’d heard nothing about it so not sure if it’s any good.
Can people suggest a good mineral foundation she could try? She has normal/dry skin. I figured I’d get her a little treat, but it’s not pay day for a bit, so I have have a budget of up to about 40Euro.
Zie – I think l’oreal can be quite drying. Try Mineralogie in Nue Blue Eriu or Prescriptives in BTs and Dundrum. I have dry skin and have gotten along well with both.
T-Cup – Me too. I’m a natural blonde and going silver! Now going grey isn’t a problem, it’s actually looks really cool but now I need to have a chat with my hairdresser about matching up my hair colour a little better…
monty – i want to go platinum ala gwen stefani. i’m natural red although t hat hasn’t benn seen for a while i’m currently a light reddy brown. but i was looking a picts of me at christmas with blonde hair and it looks so much nicer. although having said that i will prob change my hair colour again in another three months. i’n constanly changing my hair
I’m going brown next thursday after being light blonde for years- IM SO SCARED!!! I’m not sure if I want to be brown but my family and b/f keep saying it will suit me (I’m naturally mousey brown!!)…eesshhh
sorry forgot to say im scared due to past bad experience 2 years ago where I ended up with black hair like a goth…I want to try the brown at the same time- it doesnt have to be permanent if I dont like it- it’ll just be a shock to the system is all!!
Right so ladies, is there any way (bar industrial grade exfoliant) to get rid of streaks caused by the Dove Summer Glow stuff? I exfoliated well and applied it properly per instructions, but my legs now look like some class of mutant orange-zebra-crossed-with-plucked-chicken hide. Much as they are naff I am going to have to resort to tights for this sodding wedding tomorrow.
I have officialy sworn off any type of fake-tanning product forever!! Lesson learned!
cheers admin, she gets booked up pretty fast so i booked her. have to send a cheque to confirm booking. just wondering is that mental silly without having had a trial?all the reports ive heard have all been excellent
Cat Deeley was on the Roaccutane, and it’s rumoured that’s how Posh finally sorted out her skin. Another pill that’s quite good for skin is Minulet. It was off the market there for a couple of years because of some problem with the factory but it’s back again now. It’s my favourite one. I’ve never had any side effects from it so I was delighted when it came back.
Cathspyjamas I have found the same with dove on my legs. Make sure the streaks dont show through you tights as have had to resort to wearing thick support tights in the past to cover them!!
Poppins – There is a girl in Limerick too called Mandy O’Loughlin. She used to manage the MAC counter in BTs in Limerick and has done my make-up a few times for different occasions. She’s brill. THink she has had a few recommendations on weddingsonline.ie too. She has her own website http://www.mandyoloughlin.ie (I think).
Monty – Also had you down as a Brunette. Odd isn’t it, good topic for a conversation though how we all think the others look!
ya montyc i know, normally u book, get trial then confirm booking. but the prob with me is you hav to go to dublin for the trial and im never in dublin, its too far out of my way, my weekends for the next few months dont involve dublin.
I can’t get my st tropez off my wrists at the moment(havn’t used it for a couple of days and it looks like I’m just dirty at the moment!) Wish they invented a wonder product to get rid of streaks and unwanted fake tan
Poppins theres a make up artist here in Dublin called Ruth Lawlor……ruthlawlormakeup.com and shes also on bebo.Im having my trial with her in Sept.A few of wedding sites recommended her and i saw pics of her work on brides on her bebo and and she seems to do a fab job.She used to work for MAC aswell. She might travel to you.
suzy rhona will travel on the day, just not for trials. weddingsonline – all the reports there are excellent. i havent come across any thing negative. have spoken to my sister and made the decision to book her.. will travel to dublin next year for a trial.
t-cup the st tropez stuff is only for taking it off 4 hours after you put it on.

Hi Beauties,

I dunno actually poppins – in one of the bridal threads someone may have recommended her but I have no experience myself.
Cathspyjamas – I think I was one of the people that recommended Dove to you
Sorry to hear that it streaked…
I love the Dove Summer Glow and don’t find it streaks so I’m of no help either, sorry
cheers admin, she gets booked up pretty fast so i booked her. have to send a cheque to confirm booking. just wondering is that mental silly without having had a trial?all the reports ive heard have all been excellent
Poppins – If at all possible, I’d try to get a trial with her (even though you’ve already booked her).
Cat Deeley was on the Roaccutane, and it’s rumoured that’s how Posh finally sorted out her skin. Another pill that’s quite good for skin is Minulet. I’ll hunt you down and shave your eyebrows off Monty

Sorry Poppins – Just saw now you already booked t’other girl.
Dove streaks on my legs too…. Fake tan is not my friend!
the nivea gradual tanner is 50% off in Hickeys at the mo – lashed some on this morning and am impressed. Doesnt smell bad either!
I can’t get my st tropez off my wrists at the moment(havn’t used it for a couple of days and it looks like I’m just dirty at the moment!) Wish they invented a wonder product to get rid of streaks and unwanted fake tan
Poppins – ah fair enough then
montyc would have thought you were brunette too but have heard you say here before that you’re pale and blonde!
