Dry Skin Gets Supermoist with Clinique

The bauld fellas at Clinique are playing a blinder recently – they’ve launched a whole slew of issue specific products like their Anti-Blemish Solutions, and they’re also moving into anti-ageing skincare too. The latest issue specific launch is Supermoisture Makeup, a super-hydrating foundation that’s going to be a godsend for any of you with very dry skin.

Foundation can often exaccerbate dryness and after a few hours you end up with flaky patches and a horrible tight feeling – not so with this stuff. It’s got a whipped texture and it’s so moisturising, I can’t see how skin could ever dry out! Available in ten shades, it’ll set you back €28 from Clinique counters. But do be warned, you need to have really, really dry skin. If your skin is normal to dry, like mine, then it’ll be way too much for it – on me this stuff is shiny and not remotely right for my skintype, but I can only imagine how pleased lasses with very dry skins are going to be once they’ve given it a whirl.

  • I’ve recently rediscovered Clinique. I used to use their cleaner/moisturiser/makeup a few years ago, but it kind of fell by the wayside when I went back to college, as I couldn’t afford to buy it all.

A few weeks ago, whilst rummaging around in my bathroom, I found a big bottle of moisturiser and another one of toner that I’d completely forgotten about. I’ve been using them every day since, and my skin is looking pretty good.

I’m definately going to check out their new makeup, although I reckon this one won’t be any good as my skin isn’t that dry.

I’ve been looking at their Moisture Sheer Tint though (http://www.clinique.co.uk/templates/products/sp_shaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT1038&PRODUCT_ID=PROD64991), and would quite like to try it out, as I don’t like wearing foundation every day, but I would like a little bit of coverage. Has anyone else used this? Is it any good?

I recently went into get the free trial of the 3-step cleansing/tone/moisturiser thing they have and was given the stuff for combination skin. The smell off the toner reminds me of the cheapo vodka I used to swig back in first year of college – theres no way I’d put it on my face. I have a nice No 7 toner and I checked the ingredients on that and theres no alcohol on that but the clinique one is stuffed with it.

  • I think it depends on your skin. The Clinique toner doesn’t seem to bother my skin at all. In fact, it’s about the only thing that makes my skin feel really clean. I quite like it.

Patsystonewannabe, I’ve found myself returning to Clinique recently too. I haven’t tried the Moisture Sheer Tint, but I swear by Almost Make-up, it’s my standard for a no make-up, make-up look.

Ams, you probably got No. 2 Clarifying lotion, which is loaded with alcohol and seems to suit lots of people with oily skin. I can’t use it at all, but I keep the sample sizes and put a dab on any spots or blemishes and it does the trick. The no. 3 doesn’t contain alcohol, strangely, even though it’s meant for oilier skin. You could try getting another sample for different skin type. The Mild toner is just gorgeous for sensitive skin.

my sister had a terrible reaction to the number 3 toner- she broke out in a rash for about 2 months and it took several trips to the doctor to cure it

Ohh I want to try that, even though I am perfectly happy with the foundation I use now! I have dry skin, so anything with the word “moisture” in the name tempts me! I love Clinique’s Moisture On-line.

I just bought this during the week – I like it, but make sure you don’t have oily skin cos this is very moisturising. It’s got sheer to moderate coverage, and you can build it up quite well. I would advise using a powder/Dr Feelgood after if you get oily in the t-zone or if you (like me) get oily towards the end of the day, because you will get shiny. It feels lovely on and doesn’t look caked or show off flaky patches. I put it on at the weekend and my mum asked what had made my skin so dewy, she thought it looked flawless. I’d recommend it to anyone with dry skin!

Oh no, I just started using the Clinique Toner and after the 3rd day, my face is all broke out and I’m sitting here at work hoping that if I take some benadrill maybe it will go away? Gosh I’d hate to think of being broke out for weeks. My face is really burning right now. It’s strange that I didn’t have that reaction right away but it took a few days. :-(
