Va va voom: Smashbox eyelash primer

I had a great chat with some of the Smashbox experts yesterday.

Oh I learned many so many brilliant things – and heard ALL about their brill new Decadence Collection.

But before I launch into all that I first HAVE to share this with you.smashbox layer lash.jpg

One of the gorgeous Smashbox makeup artists had the most fantastic eyelashes. I had to ask her what manner of false eyelashes/extensions they were. They were incredible, full on, long, long, long and full. When she batted them you could almost feel a breeze in the room. Wherever she got them, I wanted some.

She laughed. “They’re mine”.

“You mean they’re natural?” I asked incredulous.

Yep, she said. And she put it all down to Smashbox eyelash primer. It coats lashes making them full and thick and mascara glides smoothly on over it.

I’ve never seen a lash primer work like this. Lashtastic and totally brilliant.

I have only recently discovered smashbox (so behind the times I know!) but I am loving it, this lash primer will be mine oh yes!

  • Red says:

Bumblebee, me too & Lahhhhving it!!! Think I have to pop into Clerys v soon!

  • Nonny says:

Did you ever try Lancome Hypnose? Do you think this Smashbox one wold be better?

  • deisegirl says:

LOL Bumblebee you sound like Gollum from Lord of the Rings there….my preciousssss smashssshbox primer! Sounds like a good product!

  • Seal says:

    mmmmmmmmmmmm, delicious!

  • Admin says:

Nonny – hypnose is fantabulous, and I must write a glowing review of it, but this is a primer you use before mascara, so it’s just that bit different. means it adds versatility too I guess, you could use it before coloured stuff as well.

  • Bumblebee says:

    Deisegirl,

    hahahahahahahahahaha :)

  • cathyfly says:

Sounds fab! Maybe I could layer my Hypnose over it and sweep the floor with my eyelashes….
While we’re talking Smashbox, I invested in the Photo Finish primer recently after some glowing recommendations here. To be honest…I haven’t seen much difference. I don’t think my makeup is staying on any longer…
    Maybe I’m doing it wrong??
Does anyone use it….what should i be doing with it and what results should i expect to get?
(i just kind of blindly bought it!)

  • Red says:

cathyfly, I use the Light version & I find it good because of my infamous oily t-zone, it just mattifies my skin & lets the foundation sit nicer… red speak good today… ya know what I mean!

Speaking of t-zones, anyone see we now have ‘A’ zones.. anyone else fed up with make-up industry speak when they just make stuff up & expect us to swallow it?? Should prob repost this on blather…

  • Lynnie says:

Cathyfly, the Photo Finish is more of a line/pore filler than a make-up-stay-on-longer-er primer.

Maybe try using something like Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch or Laura Mercier Oil-Free Primer or Estee Lauder Idealist..? Or you could have a nose at reviews on http://www.makeupalley.com for primers & see what comes up?

Girls, I have to let you into a big beauty secret of mine! I get lots of compliments for my eyelashes even from beauty consultants in Brown Thomas – and my secret is…Shiseido Mascara base!! It’s absolutely fabulous. :)

  • Lynnie says:

Gingersnap, would it work with any old mascara or what do you tend to use over it?

  • Aphrodite says:

And the girls told me aswell that if you want to apply more mascara during the night, you usually can’t as it goes clumpy over the stuff thats already on. But if you put the Smashbox Lash Primer over it you can put on more mascara!

  • gingersnap says:

You can use it with any old mascara (say something like Max Factor 2000 calories) – and it makes it look even better than Yves Saint Laurent false eyelash mascara! :) I’m still using my Estee Lauder mascara over it, but it holds the curl so much better with the base, also makes the definition much better and the staying power. I’ve been in love with it the last two months!!

  • Tiptoe shortbread says:

A glowing recommendation gingersnap and DEFINITELY getting this, have tried the Lancome one before and it was fantastic so think it’s time for a new one

  • Ribbongirl says:

WOW. How much and where from?

  • trilby says:

for va va voom i usually use vaseline, coat of translucent powder, more vaseline, benefit she laq, mascara, more mascara, more mascara, more she laq. lol this sounds way quicker :)

  • Ems says:

FYI – Smashbox stuff also available in chemist opposite Grand Canal Dock Dart station

  • ladyA says:

I use the lancome lash primer one and find it great, must try this one now!

  • Atomic_Blonde says:

I never thought of getting a lash primer before….based on your comments though i think ill invest! :)

  • gingersnap says:

Soz for delay! You can get in Brown Thomas or Arnotts – it is around 18-20 euros. My friend just bought it last week on my recommendation & she is delighted with it! :)

  • Lynnie says:

Eeeeeexcellent! My double-ended Bourjois mascara is coming near the end of it’s life so methinks I will have to invest. Come oooooon, payday! :D

  • LauraF says:

Have to say how faboulous this is!!! Was surprised at actually how fantabulous this stuff is…gonna become one of my cant live without products!!

  • Latisse says:
