Philip B (on the left there – swit swoo, wha?) is a bit of an auld legend in haircare terms – he’s worked extensively in the entertainment industry in LA – in other words, with all de stars – yet his products aren’t fluffy, shiny stuff that just add gloss or volume with no actual haircare going on.
Nope, Philip’s main concern is stress and damage caused to hair as a result of pollution and city life. As increasing numbers of Irish people now live in cities, we are noticing a difference in our hair. Hence the endless parade of products that have come through my bathroom – frizz easing, glossing, smoothing – oh, I’ve been there.
But the lovely Philip offers us succor in the form of his range of treatments, such as his yum sounding White Truffle Nourishing Hair Conditioning Creme, which is, according to the SpaceNK website “a rich, reparative nourishing cream for hair in need of intense hydration and repair. Specifically designed for parched, dry, coloured and chemically- treated hair, it restores moisture levels without weighing hair down, whilst injecting body and bounce to the hair. White Truffle Oil from Italy repairs and hydrates each strand, leaving a soft, silky sheen on even the driest of hair“.
I MUST OWN THIS PRODUCT. And I think I shall! There’s a drawback (oh, isn’t there always?) in that it’s €58 from Nue Blue Eriu (£50stg from SpaceNK, fact fans, so buy from NBE) – kinda steep, until you rationalise it. I’d pay that (and probably more) to have a glossing treatment done in a salon and that would only be a temporary solution.
So, if your gruaig is gammy and you’ve a few quid to splurge with, it might well be worth a go.

Swit swoo is right! He’s a little bit more yumalicious than Charles Worthington or Nicky Clarke anyway!
The product sounds really fab, but I don’t think I could justify €58…unless of course Kirstie comes back with a report singing its praises and validating its fabulousness!
€58 is v steep.. mind you i can’t sing enough praises for my €25 aveda shampoo and my €30 aveda conditioner!
i’ll eagerly await a verdict too!
I thought this was Pierce Brosnan first. Philip B is better looking but I don’t like them this perfect looking.
not to be picky (!) but does he have really lopsided nipples??!
Seal – maybe a small bit – I hadn’t looked that close.
I love Aveda shampoos (except the Be Curly which wasn’t for me) – they smell lovely.
There was a whole episode of a US comedy TV series that I can’t think of the name of devoted to the hunt for this elusive shampoo… Set in the offices of a TV station where everyone is über-bitchy except the main girl… ah this is going to annoy me for the rest of the frickin day!
Lynnie – I know the programme but can’t remember the name either – one of them paramount programmes. The guy in the office (who is soemones secretary) was at it as well. The main character is ‘best friends at work’ with the guy who runs the staff canteen.
hmm seal – i think there might be the start of some moobs going on there! he looks as tho he looks after himself but i fear there may be a slight sagging here!
god, i’m desperate! if the question is being asked, i def ‘would’ n to hell w his wonky nipples!
Yep am very interested too but will wait to see how Kirstie gets on. Which do you think is better Aveda or Keraste my hair is coloured – it’s very fine and kinda just kicks out so don’t blow dry it. Am using Aveda at the mo – me thinks no matter what I use I’m never going to have long thick glossy hair!
KIRSTIE DON’T DO IT!!! I spent a fortune on Philip B products a while back and wasn’t a bit impressed. I tried the shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner and leave in conditioner (phew) and I honestly persevered for a few weeks to give them a fair chance but they just weren’t worth it at all!
I also invested heavily in Alterna White Truffle products and had the same result BUT I passed them on to my sister in law and she loved them, she had stunning shiny JLo hair after them (she’s very unimpressed with me for giving her an expensive habit
)
Kerastase and Aveda all the way!
“Designer stubble” due a comeback, is it?
Less Than Perfect!
That’s it exactly beautfan.
Ah good woman Nico!
jesus yis are all very picky!!!!! Philip B is a roide!
Also his boobs aren’t level cos he’s standing with one shoulder higher then the other
oooo… aphrodite! v defensive of oul Phil, aren’t ye
and i do think he’s a roide, actu, missy!
Lordy..I have to say I think he is YUCK!
Sure Aphrodite, THATS the problem……..!!!
he;s a bit chiseled for my liking (and also possibly a bit GAY for my liking too) but sure, he’s nicer than most celeb hairdressers!
Beautfan Do you have curly hair? Which Aveda shampoo & conditioner do you use? I have curly hair and the Aveda Be Curly didn’t suit me either. I use the Aveda Brilliant Shampoo and Conditioner although its for coarse hair and I don’t have coarse hair at all
Ruby – I have wavy/fluffy/flyaway on the top/prone to frizz in the rain sorta hair – its also highlighted but not dry. I think this may have something to do with paying almost €120 to €150 every 8 weeks to a a brillant young one who has a ‘Masters in Hair Colour’.
The girl in Aveda Cork recommended BE CURLY to help make my hair more manageable but it leaves it lank which is an ongoing problem for me. I usually use shampoo for normal hair and a fancy smacey conditioning treatment every couple of weeks that I ‘borrow’ from my sister.
I intend to go back to Kereste (yellow ones) and then Aveda again – I think I used Shampora before – I like the sound of ‘brillant’ as well.
This guy looks like a bizarre hybrid of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Pierce Brosnan.
Met him. He looks nothing like the photo – believe me, i didn’t even know who he was. He did my hair for me. I think he is a sweet guy though, very la-la.
