Oh Veet, Let Me Count The Ways

veet…let me count the ways I HATE YOU:

  1. you stink
  2. you’re incredibly messy
  3. it’s impossible to wash you off my hands, you stay there like a gross greasy film despite repeated scrubbings
  4. you actually DON’T WORK. At all. Frazzled bits of hair remaining on legs does not count as effective hair removal, just to let you know
  5. I’m still recovering from the chemical burns I got the last time I foolishly used you

In summary, if Veet was a man, you’d dump him.

and tell everyone how crap he was in bed!!!

  • Emma says:

I only used this c*** once and never again. If you leave it on for the time it says it just doesn’t remove any hair, leave it on any longer though and you end up red and very sore. I’ve stuck to waxing ever since.

  • Aphrodite says:

hahaha! Don’t worry Gilette have just sent us their new battery powered razors so you can be silky smooth again. Prizes for everyone yay!

  • SCK says:

im so glad that im not the only one that thinks that its crap! Not only does it ‘not do as it says on the tin’ but it smells awful too!!

  • montagne says:

Thats amazing! I have a burn on my shin right now from this stuff. Can you tell me how to ease it?

  • Giita says:

It’s the most awful product ever. I used it once with those ridiculous plastic razors, I think it removed two hairs.

  • Admin says:

giita – yep, the whole stupid razor thing is RIDICULOUS!

Montagne – sudocreme soothed my burns, give it a try?

  • Red Mum says:

the wax strips are useless too, they remove nothing and leave a nasty sticky mess on your legs.

  • Lisa says:

The Gilette razors are quite good, I don’t for a second believe the fact that they’re battery operated makes a jot of difference – and P.S. the battery runs out after about 5 seconds – but they’re the nicest of their razors I’ve used so far. Not quite sure if I feel like a goddess after using it however. Dear Gilette, please sort out your embarrassing advertising

  • brady says:

I don’t even want to TALK about the place where I got chemical burns from using this stuff….

    ouch.

  • roisin says:

I’ve actually had cuts on my leg after using veet before, and that was after leaving it on the correct amount of time and everything! ouch!

  • Scarlett says:

Brady, I second that! (I’m just not mentioning that the packaging specifically told me NOT to use it there!)

  • Aphrodite says:

I thought it was just me with the wax strips – nothing was removed…

  • brady says:

yeah, Scarlett but how else are we supposed to get rid of those hairs that stray too close to the shore…

  • mady says:

i agree totally, can anybody here actually use an epilator i ve tried and tried its agonising do you get used to it?, i ve given up trying.

  • Aphrodite says:

Hi mandy – yes I epilate – don’t mind it at all – the only problem is the ingrown hairs!!

  • MontyC says:

I used the Veet mousse once and I swear to God it nearly burnt the legs off me. I followed the instructions to the letter and it was rubbish! My legs were in bits are it. Their wax strips are even more useless….

  • dweedles says:

Has anyone any recommendations when it comes to removing facial hair. Waxing my lip makes me cry!.

  • Miffy says:

I’ve been fed up of my almost visible brown tash and decided to give their facial hair removal cream a try. It gave me a giant burnt area of wherever I’d applied above my lips. It was inflammed, red, painful. I had to wipe it with cotton wool balls and boiled water and apply E45 on it. It was so painful! I thought it was just an allergic reaction but after reading about it here, maybe not! Veet seemed such a big company all along, I thought it’d be worth trying out.
Anybody recommend any facial hair creams that doesn’t attempt to kill?

  • ali says:

Panic!!!! I used an epilator to remove some hairs on my legs in between waxing, and now my legs feel stubbly!!!! Not exactly the result I was looking for as I have my first weekend away with my boyfriend!!! :(

  • Aphrodite says:

ali – exfoliate the life out of your legs and then shave them – should help in this emergency situation!!! Ask on the Blather too what the other girls do

  • Vran says:

I thought it was just me – used the sensitive version (!)for the first time on my underarms – on for ten minutes – red, sore and skin looks a bit shrivelled up! What can I put on it to ease it? Never again! I did use Immac years ago (I am in my forties now) and it did at least do the job without the burn – bit concerned as I have never ever got a burn from this type of product before – what the hell is in it? My 13 year old daughter used it on her legs – fortunately no problems for her or I would be feeling really guilty!

  • shannon says:

i too dont want to mention where veet burned me…lol. but i also did something incredibly stupid and used regu;ar veet on my upper lip for about 2 and a half mins. it burnes soo bad an feels like i got them waxed! you know that weird smooth/numb feeling you get? i hope it didnt change the natural shape of my lips or kill any nerves. will the hair even grow back and will my lips feel normal again? i ended up having to call the number on the back of the bottle and use their emergency healthcare line! im throwing it away eventhough it did an amazing job removing lip/bikini hair. what do yall think about the lip thing?

  • Dee says:

I had the same problem with Veet, I bled from it, the day before I went on holidays.I cried with the pain. Aloe Vera was my saving grace and latherings of E45. The pain. I’d put up with shaving anyday

  • anaveltia says:

well guy, i do used veet and do not get burn, but i guess i only use it when i have been a bad girl and have forgot to wax for a bit [ you know those period with no boyfriend near by] veet doesnt remove all the hair but it is fantastic if you used it a couple of days before to used you epilette. the hair is short and is easy to eliminate

  • Rubie says:

I actually found vet rasera really good because it removed hairs easily and i didnt have to shve in weeks. i alos used waxstrps n dey r good. i think if u ppl dnt like veet use the nair esy wax tahitian gardenia.dats the best ever. BELIEVE ME GIRLS AND BOYS.

  • Melissa says:

I currently have Veet ready to use wax strip wax all over my leg!It won’t come off, let alone take off any hairs. ICK! I usually just use a plain disposable razor, but I work in a chemists and these were on the shelf so I thought why not. Well, not only do they NOT WORK, they hurt like HELL and leave a big goopy mess behind.

And ladies, if at all possible, don’t use hair removal creams on your face. If you have fair skin, use bleach and if you have dark skin, pluck or use the mini epilators specifically for that purpose. It seems unsafe you use such a strong chemical, that can actually burn the hair out of your skin so near your mouth.

  • Triona says:

I use the veet facial wax strips for my upper lip and they are USELESS!!they leave it all sticky and the really greasy wipe doesnt work to take it off!!…I was going to do work experience in a local beauticians and i wanted to be all waxed and hairless going in on my first day. I used the wax strip the night before and the next morning all my upper lip was all red and chapped and it wouldnt go away for days! I was mortified inside there:(. Im thinking of using the nair facial hair remover cream for it now.has anyone used it before?
As for my legs, ive tried EVERYTHING!! but im just too scared to pull the wax strips off properly!…epilating is so bad aswel!i cant stand it!…im sticking to my disposable razor i think!!!
