Five a Day: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer

I sometimes think that if all Beaut.ie did was to announce new foundations and mascaras you lot would be just as happy – after all, they’re both true holy grail makeup items and every post we do about either product, no matter the brand, always attracts loads of comment and chat.

That firmly in mind, I thought yiz would be interested to see what’s incoming from Bourjois in the base department. In February, Healthy Mix foundation, €15.99 and concealer, €9.99, will land on stands.

So, what’s the deal? There’s a long-wear claim (16 hours, with eight hours moisturisation) but the big selling point here is that the formula is enriched with fruit ingredients. Apricot ensures brightness, ginger’s for tone, apple is an antioxidant and melon helps keep moisture in. Phew!

The brand is also one which aims to cater for pale-ys like us Irishhers and there are lots of shades on offer, eight to be precise, with three in the concealer options too.

Sounds good. I recently bought Bourjois 10 hour Sleep Effect foundation as my emergency foundation, but I liked it so much I now wear it all the time. It really makes you look like you had a good night’s sleep and it’s nice and light for every day use. So I think I’ll definitely try this one next.

  • Mekekka says:

Sounds good to me! I’ll defo be giving this a go..

  • razzle dazzle says:

odd question but I wonder does it smell nice! Some foundations smell rank.

  • sweetie1 says:

razzle – probably smells fruity!! :D
MIght try this, although I’m really liking L’Oreal True match as my current budget foundation.

  • candi says:

this is already in boots in dundrum. It does have a few light shades, more than usual. Might try it!

  • razzle dazzle says:

wouldnt it be lovely if it smell zingy!

  • BerG says:

Must give it a whirl, am really impressed with all the latest Burjois offerings. If it smells half as good as it sounds it will be a winner.

  • Perfect Brunette says:

Waw.It is excited news!I am realy looking forward to try it.
Thank You very much for [osting it,today my day little bit brighter=)

  • littlelady says:

I wonder what the concealer is like….

  • shelly says:

perfect timing- was looking to change to a different foundation, medium coverage without blowing the budget!

will give it a shot, would love to know how people get on with it- whether their claims are false or not.

  • Ren says:

Sounds nice and perhaps it can be counted as contributing to our five a day?

  • cch says:

I remember an old Bourjois foundation (think it was a mattifying one) reeked like Dove soap – I know that’s a good clean smell but it was really too strong!
Might just have to check this out (after giving it a quick sniff!)

  • razzle dazzle says:

I always smell foundations before i buy them, weird i know!!

  • jenizzle says:

Are Bourjois any good for dry skin? I find it pretty hard to get one that doesn’t make my skin flake!

  • littlesis says:

I really like Bourjois 10 hr sleep too. I am using Clinique’s Almost makeup but i think I prefer the bourjois one. It gace fresher lighter feel and the shade was good.

  • Polly says:

I had a Bourgeois lipstick about 10 years ago and boy, did it smell!!
They often use quite strong perfume in their products.
I bought their brush on foundation though last year, and it had no smell which was much better so maybe this’ll be the same.

  • Tiddles says:

I’ve just had a look at this in town here in UK – there’s no shade for my skintone there :( Quite disapointed. But it’s all far too yellow toned for my rosey complexion. Grr.

I picked up the concealer, though, coz i’m need of a new one. Not sure how i’ll get on with the applicator though – it reminds me of a lipgloss style squeezy angled applicator. I hoped it would be more like a pointy nib. Ah well – will give it a gander.

  • White Rabbit says:

I still haven’t decided which foundation to buy and now I am really lost! Too much choice!

  • Essjay23x says:

I like the sound of this! Nourishing and there is one for pale skin . . , wow! I usually get on with Bourjois well too.

  • Minkey says:

I saw it in Boots in Dudrum too, I am assuming it’s a no no for oily skins?

On another note for anyone who’s interested, the Bourjois Smoky Eyes trios that came out in November (I think), they had a few of the green ones the other day and also a new one in black packaging with dark burnt gold colours

  • candi says:

minkey, I think its good for oily skins as it says oil-free on the label [albeit in extremely small print]

  • Flame says:

Minkey I also noticed a smokey eyes trio in green, i remembered there being something about them not releasing the green one here but they seem to have now! This foundation sounds nice, so does the 10 hour sleep one, might have a look!

  • Cassie says:

Just wondering, is this foundation non-comendogenic? Sounds good but can’t get it if it’s not cause i’ll break out :(

  • kathy.koolade says:

Oooooh I like the Bourgois foundations, particularly the 10 Hr Sleep Effect one. I’m really pale and find it hard to get nice foundation so really interested in this new one!

  • ciaraa says:

i like the look of this and 10hour sleep effect but need one to cover the redness on my cheeks …. i wonder which one would be best. the 10hour sleep one looks quite yellow… wondering if that would work

  • Ginger says:

I am ginger, and proud but i have frckles galooore. ;( tryin to cover them to much despair , also all my foundations are too yellow help? thanks :)

  • ~brownbella~ says:

Ginger – I too am red/alburn and with many freckles! but don’t cover them..there cute!- so my fiance says :)

A face without freckles is like a sky witout stars!

I am very very pale I use mac studio fix nc15 (the palest shade) i only use full coverage concealer around my eyes, that’s it, it’s nice to let the freckles show through else where! Concealer is cameo quad from coastal scents in USA.An alternative to MAC foundation is maybeline pure.minerals (2nd palest shade) no.2 rose ivory which is beige based and you can control how much coverage you want.

  • Ginger says:

Thanks!! last time i went in i supposed got the ‘palest’ one tryed on me, i looked like a sunny D bottle!

  • razzle dazzle says:

Got this today, it’s really nice! only prob is it has no spf but I can sort that out with the base. It’s really nice and light which is what I look for in a foundation. Fingers crossed I still like it tomorrow!

  • Newbie says:

First time poster – did loads of research on this great website yesterday to figure what I should buy as was low on everything – got this foundation last night based on the comments above and it’s actually lovely. Had been using a foundation that I knew was a shade too dark for me but this seems to blend perfectly with my skin tone. If it’s still on at the end of today it’ll be a winner in my eyes cos my make-up always seems to just slide off!
On another note also got the James Brown shampoo and conditioner and it’s really really nice hair feels like it’s been done professionally! :)

  • Lisa says:

    Wow!

i am a big Bourjois user, i apply 10 hour sleep effect every day along with the Eclat mineral powder, liner stylo, Ultra care mascara and Lune D’ore Blush.

While going into boots for my new bottle of 10 hour sleep effect i came across ‘Healthy Mix’ I am a paley and selected the 2nd colour ’52 Vanille/Vallia’ It looked closest to the colour i already used.
One colour brighter than your skin tone brightens up the skin so you can have a nice glow without being a ghost and also without becoming tango’d.. never good!

I have just applied my ‘Healthy Mix’ It smells Beautiful! feels lovely and goes on very nicely just with clean finger tips as i have always done.
It dries even and looks great, a slight matte finish, but not bad, i’ve tried matte foundations that dry out horribly and look awful but this feels nice and full of moisture, i wasn’t sure i even needed the Mineral powder that i would usually apply to remove any shine as i have oily skin around the nose mostly and 10 hour sleep effect usually has a shine to it either way. I applied a slight brush over just to be sure but its looks and feels great…
I am actually not sure that i will be going back to 10 Hour Sleep Effect!! I never thought i would say this!

Just bought this today – to me, it’s the best foundation I’ve tried.
I got it for £7.99 from Superdrug.
It’s really good – it does smell a little fruity I guess, though it reminds me more of suncream. Good coverage, and had my shade.. Doesn’t feel too heavy. It’s a winner, for me! (:

  • alchemystee says:

Bought this on a whim in Boots yesterday, it’s only about 11e on offer and sure I had the points on my Boots card for it… it’s fab! Smells apricoty with a hint of melon. It stayed on my skin all day long with a bit of blusher – no shiny or orange skin by nightfall. Good choice of paler shades also.

Also, suited me way better than Lancome’s latest offering.

  • Candi says:

Agree this foundation is fab. Covers everything but still light and dosen’t go cakey at all

  • erin says:

using this the last week and amazed by it best foundtion ever it gives a great base without being fake looking. and i have oily skin and i get all day out of it with no shine :) its perfect.
