Clarins Lather up With Forthcoming Gentle Beauty Soap

clarins gentle soap

Well now, this is interesting, I thought, as I unwrapped the package from Clarins. In February, the brand are re-inventing a beauty classic with the launch of their Gentle Beauty Soap, €14. Yup. A soap. FOR YOUR FACE (you can use it on body too).

Before you throw your hands up in the air, listen up.

This stuff has gained EcoCert organic certification thanks to its 99.9% natural ingredients, and it is not like the soap of old: instead of containing harsh, drying and skin-tightening ingredients, Beauty Soap includes organic shea butter, citrus essential oils of lemon, bergamot, orange, grapefruit and mandarin (it smells delish) and hazlenut for its anti-dehydrating properties.

I’m going to get brave and give this a whirl over Christmas – billed as suitable for all skin types and for daily use, the acid test for me will be how my dry skin will cope and how it will handle makeup removal.

But what about you? Would you be able to bear to use a bar?

bet it smells fab! Love citrus scented stuff!

  • Princess Lisa says:

my thing about soaps is that they sit there gathering germs unlike face/body/hand wash in bottles etc.

  • Charli says:

Yes please Kirstie, any time !!!
sounds lovely, I adore anything with citrusy smells.

  • Principessa says:

I love soap! Generally for my body though. I’m definitely one of those people who doesn’t mind getting soap for Xmas. Has to be the right sort though – L’occitane, Roger & Gallet, or the lovely french almond soap you can get in health food stores. I even have a soft spot for Clinique’s facial soap in extra mild.

Given the Clinique and Clarins connection and the upsurge in women washing with oils and balms tis not surprising they’ve decided to launch a new soap.

Princess Lisa, we need germs, they’re not all bad!

  • Kitty In The City says:

I’ve always had a soft spot for soaps, body, face, hands, all over really. Used Clinique soap for years. I like the fact that there’s less packaging too. Would definitely give it a shot.

  • Aphrodite says:

Gosh dunno… will wait to see how you get on with it!
I like bottles of cleanser with a squirty pump top – soap can get germy and grimy

  • magpie says:

mmm dont like the idea of soap sitting there, prefer the tube/bottle/jar mayself :D

  • Princess Lisa says:

yes, not all bacteria is bad but I don’t think the ones left on soap are good for your skin. same as with your makeup brushes.

  • cch says:

Hmm, much as I love all things Clarins this is not grabbing me, awaiting your report with much interest!

  • Principessa says:

Aphrodite and Lisa – you’re wimps – you don’t leave dirt on your soap, you rinse it and let it air dry!!

  • Aphrodite says:

Principessa – but why bother when you have nice clean cleanser in it’s bottle
It’s Wrong!! We’ve moved on I tells ya

  • littlelady says:

Soap is good for the environment – less packaging and less preservatives :P

    I’d defo try this!

  • Princess Lisa says:

I’m sorry – it just grosses me out!!

  • Principessa says:

Aaaaah, yis never ate mud pies when you were kids – that’s what’s wrong with the world today – MRSA, Winter Vomiting bug, swine flu all could be solved by giving kids a spoonful of mud!!

  • Karen Quinn says:

Sounds a lot like Lush’s Babyface which is a cleansing soap.

I am a massive fan of it as it removes every last trace of make-up, particularly mascara which I find hateful to remove, eye make-up remover always leaves the skin around my eyes feeling really tight, which is not a problem with babyface at all.

The best bit after using it my skin feels super soft and moisturised and I have super dry skin. Will probably try this to see if it works in the same way or is any better.

P.s the germ aspect of it is not an issue as I just rinse it off after using it and put it in the Lush tin I bought for it.

  • Breige says:

    Baby Face = Amazing!!

  • Sparkle101 says:

Breige – you must be the world’s biggest Lush fan!!!

  • baby in a corner says:

i use savon de marseille which was recommended in laura mercier’s beauty book. it comes in a huge cube but i’ve cut it up. it lathers and cleans very well.

  • baby in a corner says:

by the way, i put my soap in a soap dish with a lid so its nice and clean.

  • michelle says:

i would definitely give it try, since i’ve been looking for a good soap bar for facial purposes for ages, my skin is really dry so hopefully this will be good:)
as long as it comes with a dish (with a lid) to reduce bacteria build-up, then im sold:)
