An Post’s yearly reminder about the last posting dates for Christmas plopped through my letterbox the other day, so naturally I stuck it on the front of the fridge and then promptly forgot all about it.
Until a little email from Benefit arrived into my inbox and sent me spinning into an eek-no-presents-bought-and-not-a-dog-in-the-house-washed festive frenzy. If you’re planning to grab a box of Coralista or One Hot Minute for your sis or bessie mate from Benefit online, get your skates on: their last day for shipping items to Europe with guaranteed delivery for December 25th is this coming Monday, November 30th.
I’d really advise getting those orders in sooner rather than later for any online shopping you’re planning to do, regardless of the retailer. A couple of years ago, I got really feckin’ badly stung when my entire family’s gifts didn’t arrive from Strawberrynet in time for Christmas Day – I’d ordered the haul early in the first week of December. Nightmare.
Of course, you’ll have a bit more play time if you’re buying from European or UK stores – I see that last day for ordering for Christmas delivery on ASOS is 13th December – but I don’t recommend leaving it to the very last minute. Emergency present buying for your nearest and dearest is not the kind of stress you need on Christmas Eve, especially when you thought you’d everything sorted!

oooh I’ve just decided that I’m going to do the rest of my christmas shopping online (amazon and play.com). Have the mammy’s present already, getting PS3 games for dad, a book on some famous racehorse for grandad which he’ll read on christmas morning and proceed to tell me every fact he came across in it, and a copy of the new Maeve Binchy for each of the grannies.
Getting cds and an itunes card for little bro. He’s a big Take That fan so gonna throw in their greatest hits too. Mainly because he doesn’t remember all the *good* Take That stuff that was out when I was a teen!
How long does it take for play.com to deliver?
Amazon is doing free delivery to Ireland if you spend over £25! I ordered some of my xmas stuff last night! The beaut book was out of stock though!
I have not done ONE WHIT of shopping yet.
oh the book is out of stock because it’s off being reprinted! YAY!
I started on Tuesday! Got a 100ml bottle of Marc Jacobs perfume on amazon for 63e, which isn’t bad considering the 50ml is 79e in the shop! Also got accessories for the ps3 for the bro, and heading up north next week so will do a bit there too…
Being reprinted? Well done girls
Wowzer, that’s fab Kirstie! My congrats to Aphrodite!
I love strawberry net but be really careful what you order…just got stung for €15 VAT and postal charge for a dermalogica moisturiser!!!
Just did nearly all my christmas shopping from the comfort of my lovely couch. There’s a half price sale on so my whole order was only £40! And Free delivery! Yay!
Only 2 people left to buy for now
oh should of said the sale is on amazon
I bought the Hubs pressie on Amazon last week & with free shipping, it was a great deal. Little Sis is getting the talking Stila palette from Cheapsmells which arrived on Monday. Lulu’s pressie was bought back in September so just something for de Mammy & de Daddy and I’m set!
Ouch – I was just about to get a couple of items form American Eagle till I noticed their Int’l shipping rate is now a flat $50!!!(It used to be $30 for a spend of between $50 and $100).
Add in the fact that Customs tend to stop and charge AE packages and it’s a big BOO from me.
Got caught by customs for an order from Benefit.com earlier this year, had to pay about €16 on a €50something order. Kept my last order to one item and it was fine. Also got caught for an order from Victoria’s Secret lately so I think anything from a well known American retailer might be checked by customs.
