Now you’ve all been with me as I blogged my way through my teeth makeover. Just to recap (no pun intended. Oh okay, maybe a small one): me and the notorious Walkinstown Roundabout have come to know one another pretty well as I navigated it several times in my quest for a better smile. And that was actually the most difficult part of the whole process believe it or not.
To say that I’m happy with the finished result is an understatement. The veneers are perfect, they look like normal teeth – only better – whiter, brighter, straighter. I’ve gone from hating my smile to wanting to flash it at every opportunity.
If you’re unhappy with your teeth and thinking of taking the plunge into cosmetic dentistry I would definitely recommend it – give Walkinstown Dental a ring (they’re cheaper than the big clinics too) and Darren did a fantastic job on my teeth. You’ll probably need less done than you think so do go for a inital consult – I was amazed at the difference four veneers made. He also does six month braces, invisalign braces and teeth whitening.
I’ll put up pictures as soon as I get a chance – I just haven’t been ready for my close up yet darlings.
Happy days! And thank you Darren – you’ve no idea how happy you’ve made me!

I was wondering how you got on just yesterday. So glad it went well. I hated my teeth for years so know how you feel.
I got two crown a few years back and the 2 centre are a diff colour and I HATE it. I’ve decided to go for it now so am starting a fund. I think I’ll just need 2 veneers to match.
I have VHI Dental so I might get something back from that as well as tax man. Then I’m going to cancel the vhi dental (tis up next march or so).
I’m hoping my guy in Limerick will do it cos trasping up to Dublin wouldn’t suit.
Hi, long time reader but dont comment very often. Just wondering, My Mam hates her two front teeth, they Stick out and are quite prominent. She has considered a brace but knows she would be very self conscious, would veneers work if the teeth were filed down?
Nikki – a good dentist shouldn’t allow that. The reason my dentist doesn’t want to give me veneers is basically the teeth are fine.
I think your mom should consider braces – you see a lot of older people with them now. It would but totally worth it I’d say. My sis in law got her done 3 years ago (she was about 30 and at the time thought she was too old), her only regret is she didn’t do it sooner.
Hey,
I am getting invisalign on my upper teeth and a full brace on my lower teeth next week after years of hating my smile. I am very excited and even though I will be self conscious of them, I am self conscious already and I know the end result will be more than worth it.
Tell your mum to go for an assessment, she might be suitable for invasalign.
I am 30 and getting 6 month braces next Wednesday…. I’m really excited! I think veneers are only needed when there is something wrong with the actual tooth – otherwise, moving it should suffice.
nikki, how about clear step or invisalign?? I just finished my stint in 6 month braces, though I can see why your mam would be self concious. I think in your 30′s like me a lot more common than 50′s or 60′s! But never to late really to do something about your teeth.
Nikki – braces would be the thing for your mam – braces are clear now and you can hardly notice them, maybe she’d consider that?
If you want to change just a colour or slightly change the teeth shape you can get Lumeneers or Glam Smile veneers which don’t require teeth prepration. When there is prepartory work on teeth needed then it is better to have braces. Well….. but most of us want to have immediate outcomes so that is why standard porcelain veneers are quite popular.
I currently have 6 month braces and while I can’t say its easy its not as bad as I thought it would be. It is expensive, but I feel worth it. My husband bought them for me for my 40th birthday instead of a fabulous holiday. Its never too late. I have had 3 kids through regular braces and the result is amazing so I thought why not get my own teeth straightened? We spend so much hard earned money on our children and our home, that we forget about ourselves. But everyone has to look at our faces everyday and I wish 6 month braces had been around years ago and I could have smiled in all the old photos at special occasions. Darren and the team are great!
