Oh, I have been looking forward to this one for a while: Chanel fragrance ads are usually over-the-top lavish, beautifully filmed and costumed – (who can forget Nicole “I love to dance” Kidman’s effort?) and the last one we saw was for Coco Mademoiselle, starring Kiera Knightley and soundtracked by Joss Stone.
The new No.5 ad stars Audrey Tautou – appropriately, as she’s playing Gabrielle Chanel in Coco avant Chanel, due for release this year – and it’s a different beast altogether. Less upbeat than the other two, and while there’s always a love interest, this one’s a bit of a bad boy – he’s even a little sinister. Set on the Orient Express, there are two versions of the film on offer, a two minute 20 cinema version, and a shorter minute-long TV spot.
Enough of me waffling – check it out for yourselves and let us know what you think in a comment.

oh yes, i forgot that it debuts today! Thanks for reminding me
hmmm i still prefer the nicole kidman one – audrey is totally beautiful but im not totally sold on the ad…or yer man for that matter lol
I like this one a lot more, it’s much more elegant and refined than the other two. But Audrey’s not looking too sure of herself at the end, is she?
can’t watch it now cos I’m in work but now I have the Joss Stone song stuck in my head!
Love it! Parts of it really remind me of Amelie. Although I have to say I prefer the Nicole Kidman ad.
Thanks for the link! I love this one, way prefer it to Nikki Kidmans. It’s sexy and I think sells the perfume alot more. Used to use No. 5, now I’m wondering why I stopped.
Absolutely beautiful, love it.
oooooohh, how v Agatha Christie! I adore Audrey Tatou, so perfect that she’s exactly like Coco AND like Audrey Hepburn, who was Chanel personified….it’s all linked!Fab ad, best one since the Moulin rouge one.
I really like the ad, much prefer it to Nicole Kidman’s one. I think Nicole’s dialogue ruined her one. Audrey Tatou is gorgeous and I think she’s perfectly suited to the No. 5 brand.
Thinking of doing the Eve Lom style piggy bank saving for some No. 5.
I think the best Chanel No. 5 ad was the girl in the red dress, like Red Riding Hood. A wolf jowled at the end. Used to see it at Christmas.
That should be howled!
