cupan tae

This weekend the bauld Beaut.ie has been all over the Irish meeja, with a fantastic piece in yesterday’s Independent Life Magazine, written by the always excellent Anna Carey, and today we’re in an ace spread in the Sunday Business Post, authored by the equally wonderful Lisa Brady.

So if you’re making your first visit to our bloggy shores by way of either publication, we’d like to wish you a very warm welcome. Have a cuppa, as per the suggestive pic above, and browse our extensive archives, which are rammed full of reviews, advice, how tos and a huge amount more. Want to find out more about the book? No problem.

We’ve also got a forum section where you get to be the boss of yourself, posting threads and offering opinions to your hearts content. Enjoy!

Beaut.ie Guide to Gorgeous Cork Book Signing - Were You There?

Monday, November 9th, 2009

beaut-cork1

We came, we saw and Aphrodite signed at the Beaut.ie Guide to Gorgeous book signing at Eason’s on Patrick Street in Cork on Saturday. We can’t express how delighted we were to meet so many of you gals and a big thanks to you for coming along on what started off as a very wet and windy day.

Big thanks also to Teresa from Gill and MacMillan, the book’s publishers, (she’s up there in the middle smiling away) who drove the goody bags all the way to Cork, the lovely staff at Easons and of course all of you who turned out to buy the book and have it signed. Above you can see one of our littlest fans, who even turned up in pretty coat to complement the book jacket. Aww!

We really hope you enjoyed yourselves and are enjoying the book (and of course the goody bag contents). We managed to snap a few of you, and there are a pile of pix after the cut - did we immortalise you in pixels? Check it out below!

PS: a shout-out to the gals we met on the train on the way home: it was lovely to meet you both and we hope you weren’t too tired after your day’s work!

goody bags

Oh yes oh yes, unless you’ve had your beautifully made up head down a rabbit hole you’ll know the Beaut.ie Roadshow ™ (c) makes its first stop off in Cork city this weekend.

Join myself and Aphrodite as she signs the hand off herself while I stand around looking fabulous at EASONS ON PATRICK STREET THIS SATURDAY AT 1PM!

We’ve got goody bags for the first FIFTY of you lot to come, buy a book and get it signed by the delightful author herself, so truly, this is an event not to be missed.

For this leg of the Roadshow of Infinite Fabulousness, we’ve got the following delights on offer, and you may well find one or five  (or maybe even them all) in your mala. It’s a girls’ essential kit, we think, what with there being hair and skincare contained therein, as well as something to snack on should you become peckish and some Tampax Pearl in case you’re, you know, caught short. There’s even a little something in there for your fella or bro.

Check out the delights:

Lime Crime Lipstick: Sunglasses Required

lime crime

With a brand tagline that screams “So bright, it’s illegal!,” it’s no surprise that US indie make-up company Lime Crime is responsible for some shockin’, well, bright products. Russian-born Xenia Vorotova is the gorgeous redheaded brains behind the enterprise, whose latest venture is a lip colour collection featuring some seriously bold and brash shades.

If you thought the likes of MAC or Illamasqua lipsticks were inclined to be wild and unwearable, well, this Lime Crime stuff will most likely not be for you. The 10 core colours in their Candyfuture lip colour collection range from cartoonish, sugary shades like turquoise blue and lilac to proper goth black, with further additions to the line planned for roll out early next year. The tea leaves tell me not to expect subtlety or nudes from the 2010 releases.

The lipsticks, $16 each, promise opaque colour that’s chock-full of pigment with a low sheen finish and come packaged in a hot pink tube adorned with a shiny shimmery holographic unicorn. A bit tacky and retro, but it sort of suits the kinds of eccentric colours contained within.

Lime Crime will ship internationally for a flat fee of $10 if you do want to give them a whirl. Alternatively, budget conscious gals who aren’t too fussed about unicorns on their lippie packaging but fancy unleashing their inner Rainbow Brite should check out Barry M Lip Paints - the colours are far more vibrant In Real Life than they appear on the website, there are crazies like bright orange and pastel lavender and black to be had, and the brand have recently added a royal blue to the line.

Aphrodite’s in Prudence!!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

prudence magazine

Check out this month’s Prudence magazine because there’s a whopper of a four-page feature, titled ‘Beaut.ie Queen’, on our very own Aphrodite, where she dishes all about her prudent life. But what we were most excited about were the pictures: look at the shot above! That’s her gorgeous cat Sugar, and he’s a total little pet.

Check the issue out for lots more images of Aphrodite, her moggy and her gorgeous house. It’s a great spread and the magazine itself is well worth its wee €2.95 cover price (there’s a fantastic clutch bag spread inside, amongst loads of other affordable fashion bits). You can check out their website or get another sneak-peek of what else is inside the covers.

Oh, and lets just have another wee pic of Sugar, shall we? Check after the cut!
