Still Getting Spots in your 20's and 30's?

mario badescuI'm still prone to breakouts, despite not having particularly oily skin at all. In fact in general my skin is pretty average, excepting the T-Zone area (but even then it's really just nose and chin) which has a tendency to being a bit shiny and occasionally spotty.

I asked the lovely therapist who gave me the Dermalogica Face Mapping facial at Sanas if I was correct in my assumption that people are getting spots more and more these days, even after the teenage hormone period is over. And she said yes - the reasons for it are down to our busy lives, stress, pollution and environmental factors, antibiotics and just plain not eating right.

So with all that to contend with I kind of feel lucky to just get the odd one! But like a lot of people, I've also been through endless sticks, potions and creams which claimed to clear up spots immediately / dry them out / diminish redness etc. And did any of them really work? Er, not really!

I saw a product on HQhair though and thought it sounded great. It's a Drying Lotion by Mario Badescu (above) and it promises to "dry up whiteheads and surface pimples overnight with this effective, fast-acting potion". All you need is a few drops before bed and this will speed healing and reduce spreading of nasty little zits. It won't irritate or dry surrounding skin, and It's also suitable for all skin types.

So why is the Mario Badescu brand so good? They have 35 years of experience in skin care products, all of which contain fresh fruits and botanicals. Actors and supermodels love this stuff, and so should we! And the price for the Drying Lotion? A slightly hefty €24.75 - but if if works, wouldn't it be well worth it?

powderThat's not all Signor Badescu has up his sleeve for sore, stressed out skin. There's also a Special Healing Powder for €15.50 which is designed for healing and concealing red, irritated or oily areas - sounds like a pretty good all rounder. For those of us with persistent blackheads, the Silver Powder promises to blitz them - it helps break up the gunk in clogged pores and it'll also absorb oily build-up for a healthier complexion. All that for €18? Sounds pretty decent to me!
