Is this new illuminating foundation the ideal choice for brides?

Healthy, glowing skin is the number one request I get from clients (especially brides), and it's something that, as a makeup artist, I've become known for. If you want heavy, or cakey, trust me, I'm not your girl.

Creating the appearance of fresh, youthful skin can take some time, of course. There's buffing, blending and all the usual makeup artist trickery involved, but a lot of the time it comes down to the products you're using, which is why I'm so delighted to have found a new foundation that delivers that "lit from within" glow to skin without too much effort.

Laura Mercier is famous for her Flawless Face, and while I've always been a fan of her foundations, this is the first time I've really been wowed. So what's so special? Well, here are my top reasons for loving the Candleglow Soft Luminous Liquid Foundation (€48).

  • Application: This applies like a dream over skin, smoothing, refining and leaving it looking airbrushed. The smoothest results have come from buffing it on with a brush, but it looks beautiful when blended with fingers too. For anyone who's been feeling duped by the YSL Teint Touche Eclat formula change, this is pretty much the closest thing I've found to it since then.
  • Shade Range: In total, there are 24 shades in the collection, although I'm not sure if all of them are currently stocked in Brown Thomas. What I do know, is that Laura Mercier do pale shades really well, so if you have trouble getting makeup that is light enough, or is more of a neutral/cool finish then you should be in luck.
  • Finish: As I mentioned, this gives a "lit from within" glow to skin that looks healthy and fresh. The coverage is light to medium but can be built up by buffing on light layers.

  • Lasting Power: Usually I find that anything with a glow or dewy finish slides right off my face by lunchtime but this one doesn't. I've been setting it with the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder (€42), and it's been staying put for the day. Seriously guys, I think I'm in love!

Have you tried it yet too? Have you been wowed?
