Soap & Glory cosmetics review: Show Good Face, Cheekmate, Fabulipstick

With their quirky product names, retro packaging and mad technology (PLANTPOWER™ peptides, or DELINER™ wrinkle smoother, anyone?!), Soap and Glory have carved out a definite place in our affections and on our bathroom shelves. We love their affordable body and skin care lines, but now that the initial fuss has died down, how does the recently launched cosmetics line stack up?

Show Good Face 2-in-1 Foundation and Primer
I was sent a few bits and I'll be honest: the first time I tried Show Good Face, the brand's 2-in-1 Foundation and Primer, €15, I hated the stuff. I wore it to work and got a godawful fright when I caught sight of my big shiny face around lunchtime. But I revisited it this weekend for a casual brunch and really like the initial effect: S&G promise a "dewy, bright, flawless finish" and they're not wrong - it's just a pity it wears off my combination skin after about 5 hours. And I've no idea where they're going with those primer claims, either.

Super Colour Fabulipstick
For the same brunch I also wore one of the brilliantly named Super Colour Fabulipstick, €12. Mine is Perfect Day, but the three shades on offer are actually very similar, offering a 'my lips but better' effect: Naked Beige is a dark nude, Perfect Day a natural rosey toned shade and the misleadingly named Red My Lips isn't a red at all, but more of a raisin-y colour. I'd love to see them throw a few brights into the mix, but these are pretty decent lippies: quite creamy with better than average wear-time and a non-drying, satin finish.

Cheekmate
My natural weekend look was topped off with Cheekmate, €11, the brand's answer to Benetint: a “rosy, rub-on cheek and lip stain” with raspberry seed, kiwi extract and vitamin c. The gel texture makes this easy to apply and blend and I love the natural berry flush it imparts. This is a winner in my book.

The Soap & Glorious finish!

(Full disclosure: I'm also wearing Catrice's Made To Stay Longlasting Cream Eyshadow in 020, Romans Gone Bad, Clinique High Lengths mascara and Clarins Pro Palette on my eyebrows.)
