Prestige Trio Minerals Eye Shadow in Emerald: Great Value

Prestige

I was given this as a testing sample following a beauty meeting a couple of weeks ago and pretty much discounted it based on looks. But Prestige Trio Minerals Eye Shadow in Emerald, €14.99, is a perfect example of a product that's rather more interesting than it appears.

Dull, functional and frankly boring packaging hides the fact that this tub - which you could easily mistake for powder - contains three wells of really rather nice loose pigment inside.  Also available in Luster (browns), Black Diamond (white, black and grey), the one I have to hand is Emerald, and it's a mix of three greeny/aquatic shades.

This is nicely done: unscrew the cap and you get another level of protection - pigments are notoriously messy and sheddy so this helps to keep everything clean and will also prevent the shades mixing.

Ah, the shades. Lets have a little look, shall we?  You get a massive amount in this pot, and you'd be all year using it every day to even get near the bottom.  Our trio is a pale apple shade, a bluey-green and a dramatic forest green. They're all shimmery, soft and easy to blend, but it's that deep, dramatic one that's captured my attention. I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of the paler shades - though I think they'll look good over a black base - but the deep colour is just GORGEOUS.

See? Depth, shimmer and tons of pigment. This is going to make for an amazing Christmas smokey eye with a twist. Oh I can just feel it.
