One of my worst character traits is an inclination to perfectionism. (We'll talk about the indecisiveness and worrying and shocking inability to effectively assert myself some other time.) Perfectionist tendencies are Bad News Indeed for interior decoration: our three year house anniversary's been and gone and I'm only now getting around to painting the hall, stairs and landing because I've been trying to find *just* the right shade for the space.
They are, however, fairly useful when it comes to product testing because I won't tolerate a second rate offering. I'm always on the look-out for my perfect everything when it comes to beauty and make-up, and to that end I've got the foundation and the ladygarden landscaping sorted.
I've also found my perfect self tanner bar none, and while it's been around for a while and I've been using for yonks, it's only a spate of recent disappointing encounters with new tan offerings that have reminded me of just how great it is.
"It" is Lancome Flash Bronzer Shimmering Leg Gel - don't fret about the name, it can be used all over - and I love it. This stuff ticks all the fake tan boxes as far as I'm concerned.

It's tinted, so you can see exactly where it's going and make sure you're applying it evenly. It dries quickly, starts to develop in under an hour, and never looks muddy or streaky so you don't need to hide yourself away in a darkened room while your tan comes up. There's very little of that terrible fake tan soggy biscuit stench with Leg Gel, and it gives a deep but natural golden brown colour - perfect for a post-holiday tan cheat. I've been using it since I came back from Sicily and basking in all the "Wow, you got a great colour!" compliments.

Oh, and if you find the shimmer too OTT for daytime, it rinses off easily without taking your tan with it!
