Burning Questions: Do You Travel to Get Your Beauty Fix?

While we Irish gals are largely yet to develop the relationship with our facialists that we've long forged with our hairdressers, I'd say it's on the way: when Ellen Kavanagh left Brazilia to open her own salon, we kept getting requests from girls frantic to know where she'd gone. Quite simply, no one did a wax like her, and her clients were bereft. But sure, they're grand and happy now, what with Waxperts being such a stellar success. Phew!

But what do you do if your favoured hair stylist or colourist leaves the salon you've always gone to? You follow them, that's what. I've met women who'll gladly cross the country to go back to their hometown because Philomena at Curl Up And Dye is the only person they trust, and it's not uncommon for people to trek to an unfamiliar part of the city when the person who teases their tresses changes location.

I even came across one English gal who books flights home specifically so she can get her hair seen to by her long-term hairdresser. Now, that's dedication to the cause, eh?
