Top of the Pops to Return With These Favourite TV hosts at the Helm?

There has never really been a music show quite like the iconic Top of the Pops. It was cancelled back in 2006, after an incredible 42-year-run on the BBC, only returning these days for a Christmas special.

However a great deal of speculation has been mounting at the moment that the weekly chart show will make a comeback with the lovely Dermot O'Leary and Fearne Cotton on hosting duties. It would be a pretty good move for Dermot post-X Factor if he was sticking around this side of the pond, while Fearne previously presented the show back in its final years. She has also just announced that she is leaving BBC Radio 1.... so yeah... the stars are aligning!

A source told the Mirror; "Top of the Pops is a great brand name and the BBC are keen to use it. Some at the highest level are massive supporters of the plan and have given the go-ahead.

"The new Friday night charts could be the perfect tie-in – with Top of the Pops, a brilliant start to the weekend."

However, the BBC have made no official statement and are denying the rumours, but there's no smoke without fire and all that.

They'd be mad not to bring it back, especially with talents like O'Leary and Cotton looking for a new gig.

Would you like to see Top of the Pops return? And do you have the fond memories that we do of bopping around the living room to 80s/90s classics (we use that term loosely)?
