Three of the Best New Budget Beauty Bits 'n' Bobs

Luxury makeup is totally my jam, but let’s be honest: there’s a real thrill in discovering something seriously good, for not-very-serious money. (It’s the same feeling as when someone admires your outfit, and you can merrily chirrup, “Penneys!”)

Which is why, of all the lovely makeup that has landed on my desk in recent weeks, it’s the following budget bits and bobs that have got me most excited.

  • Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer

I have the shade Light Beige, which is perfect for my sallow skintone, and Porcelain, which would be great for paler gals. With a doe-foot applicator and creamy, lightweight consistency, this performs like a high-end product - but at €3.99, is actually cheap as chips. I’d even pick this over Collection’s Lasting Perfection concealer (which I love): the consistency is a little thinner, so it’s less drying underneath the eyes. Look for this from the last week in August, in pharmacies and selected Penneys nationwide.

And in case you recognise it, Sarah Jane mentioned it as one of her picks too so it must be good!

  • Maybelline Master Sculpt

This little highlight and contour palette has wormed its way into my everyday routine, leaving my Charlotte Tilbury palette for when I’m going out-out. There are two shades: Light/Medium is a touch warmer, Medium/Dark a touch cooler; I use the first option and find it brilliant for a bit of casual, everyday contouring. It’s quite sheer, which makes it easy to build up and blend – and very hard to overdo. And the icing on the cake? There’s a decent little mirror – not bad for €10.75 at all, at all.

  • Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Colour

Prefer more of a statement lip? Then Wet n Wild has got your back, with their semi-matte Mega Last Lip Colour line. The orangey/red Purty Persimmon, vibrant Dollhouse Pink or the warmer-toned Pinkerbell would be my picks from the latest shade drop. They’re a paltry €2.99 a pop, are all stunners and they won’t dry out your lips – though I’d slick on a bit of a balm before applying.
