Dupe de Dupe: Mac Versus The Body Shop

I love finding a good Mac lipstick dupe but what I love even better is when the dupe is just a teeny tiny bit better than the Mac one. And obviously I wouldn't say that lightly.

Today I am comparing the famous Mac Ruby Woo to a Colour Crush Lipstick from The Body Shop called Red Siren or #101.

Usually when I write about a lipstick dupe, the reason I am writing about the copy cat is because it's significantly cheaper. Today, however, I am pitting the two against one another for a completely different reason.

A lot of people, like myself, suffer from dry lips and as a result, find wearing lipsticks such as the Mac Cosmetics Matte range unbearable for long periods of time. As much as I love a matte lip, I generally can't get away with one for more than an hour and usually have to load on the gloss to hide all the cracks and broken skin!

God loves a trier though and it still doesn't stop me from investing in Mac lippies. Here I am wearing Ruby Woo which is a colour from the Retro Matte range. It is a highly pigmented, full-cover, full-impact lipstick and lasts for up to 8 hours. For the purpose of highlighting the intensity of colour pigmentation, I chose not to use a lipliner underneath both lipsticks to stay true to the genuine colour pay-off.

A Mac lipstick will set you back €19.50, but as any Mac junkie will tell you, it's worth every penny!

The price wasn't what attracted me to Ruby Woo's identical twin over at The Body Shop.

And just to prove I changed colours, here's my lipstick covered tissue!

Red Siren from the Colour Crush Lipstick Range is filled with Community Fair Trade marula oil from Namibia and cherry seed oil which delivers intense nourishment to the lips while also maintaining a highly pigmented, full-cover lipstick. These lipsticks contain finely-crushed colour pigments and glide effortlessly across the lips without tugging or discomfort.

They have a really smooth, creamy texture and give an amazing high impact colour that won't crack and dry out the lips. For those of you who find Mac lippies a tad bit drying on the lips I would definitely shop around and have a look at what else is out there on the market. Life is way too short to be settling for a lipstick that doesn't work for you. And don't forget there's Urban Decay's Ultimate Ozone Primer that might just be your new best lippy friend.

If you are a dry lips sufferer like me, what nourishing lipsticks do you like to use?
