The Heat is On, Whoa It's On The Streets: Urban Decay Flushed, Urban Decay Illuminating and Bronzing Beauty Balms

If you're sick of being Nude and Naked then you might like to give yourself a bit of cheeky flush and blush.

Three new palettes (€29) add to the original blush trio from Urban Decay and rock and roll their way into summer loving with a flattering shade range.  Choose from

  • pinky/mauve neutrals with golden shimmer (Native)
  • bright pinkyness with pink shimmer (Strip)
  • peachy/coral bliss (Streak)

Each box o' tricks contains three full size products compressed into very pretty stripes of matte and slightly shimmering colour that you can use by simply sweeping your blusher brush to blend the shades and apply to cheeks.

This pleases me very much.

Or you can use the shades separately as a bronzer/countour shade, a highlighter/illuminator (the middle stripe of each palette) and finally a blush accent.

Now onto the Beauty Balms (€29).

I confess to not really liking these.  The very phrase "Beauty Balm" grinds every lever and gear in my body and perhaps makes me unreceptive to any product bearing the name.  Hair products, lipsticks and mascaras are not beauty balms despite being marketed as such - and neither are these two fellas.  They're a cream bronzer and a cream highlighter - end of.

My God! WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY HAND? It looks embalmed. UNSEE.

Quite difficult to work in and blend, the formula is dense and thick in texture - I squidged a bit of each onto my hand to give you a goo. If you have oily skin chances are they will sit better on you then on my dry phizzog. The illuminating is nice mixed with foundation though for a bit of glow.

Packed full of antiageing ingredients like Peppa Pigtides... oh sorry, misread that - Pepha Protect (derived from watermelon apparently) and with SPF 20, the formulas also have blurring pigments to create a more even skintone.

So in summary: I love the palettes, I'm meh on the BBs.

What about you?  Have you tried these or would you recommend something else for a "hit" of colour this season?
