Clothes Storage Shame: I had a Floordrobe. How I Tidied Up - By Getting A Cardrobe

I first knew I had a problem when I started to cover it up and hide it in shopping bags. My friends had no idea of my dark secret. I hid it well whenever they called over and I always managed to look well-presented. I actually congratulated myself on my shady nature.

But my low point came one night when I ended up falling deep into the mess I had created. I couldn’t sleep thinking about how out of control it had become. And that’s when I decided I needed to address my problem, it had spiralled out of control for long enough. My floordrobe had to go.

See, my wardrobe has just been FULL to capacity for years. I’d taken tips from Carrie Bradshaw and started storing clothes in various kitchen units, I'd sought advice from beaut.ie and had become the Duncan Stewart of DIY storage. Bags were strewn under the bed and drawers throughout the entire house were crammed full of accessories. I needed a storage solution and fast but all the conventional methods just didn’t work for me.

So what could I do, where to colonise next in name of style? I pondered as to where I would find one big, glorious and empty space - one that would be convenient, portable and watertight.

And then my epiphany hit me like a Louboutin to the side of the head. My little polo - not the mint but my car. If you could turn a floor into a floordrobe, then why not turn a car into a cardrobe?

Since I’ve started on the road to recovery and removed my floordrobe, my life has had a new lease. I no longer stumble over a hazardously placed Kurt Geiger shoe in the dark of night. The sole of my foot no longer feels the yelp-worthy pain of standing on an exposed zip. No, now it feels the luxurious pile of carpet beneath its manicured toes. I can leave my bedroom door open when I have visitors and not feel clothes storage shame.

And as a battle weary fashion soldier, I can recommend this transition from floordrobe to cardrobe to all. Although I may need to invest in tinted windows for my car now…
