Cheap(er) Cosmetics #3: H&M makeup

h&m shimmerThe last time I was in H&M on one of my many accessories buying sprees, I picked up a few bits and pieces from their makeup collection. The range is fairly limited - foundations and concealers, (which look a bit dodgy to be honest) shadows, gloss, blush and other bits and bobs. So I left the foundations aside and picked up three shadows and a nifty little case to put them in. The shades I picked were a silver (with a decent amount of glitter in it), a petrol blue and a mustardy yellow. I also got a shimmer powder. The packaging is nice - sort of like a hybrid of Pout meets Clinique's new packaging designs - lots of chunky clear patterned plastic and chrome effect stuff.

What was my verdict?

I was pleasantly surprised, that's what. The shimmer powder is a nice warm golden shade and looks really nice dusted on over my foundation and powder. It was subtle but noticeable - really good for evening. It doesn't come with a brush or puff so you'll need to have one, but for the price, that's no gripe.

The shadows were surprisingly good too and a bit of primer under them really helped emphasise the colour. But the most surprising thing about H&M's cosmetics line are the prices - single shadows come in at €1.50 each! So the three I bought plus the little case to store them (which cost me €2.50 ) - in total cost me €7! The shimmer powder was a bankbreaking €2.90. So in total I spent under a tenner for 4 items I'll definitely use again and again. Not too shabby at all, get thyself to H&M!
