Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation: My new best matte

Brand new (but NOT shiny) from Rimmel, Stay Matte Liquid Mousse is a foundation that promises feather-light yet flawless coverage and a natural-looking matte finish. That, coupled with the “shine control” strapline, had me verrry interested in trying it out.

Of the six shades I was sent and the lightest three that I tried, I found Ivory to be the best match for my skin. The liquid mousse is easy to work with and a little goes a long way; about two pea-sized measures were all it took to do my whole mush. The whipped texture incorporates gel emulsifiers and applied and blended beautifully with my foundation brush to cover imperfections, redness, and uneven tone without heaviness or caking, leaving skin looking polished and velvety soft.

The finish is, as the product name suggests, totally matte, and although I found a small amount of oil breaking through my nose after a few hours it was nothing that a dab of powder or blotting paper wouldn’t have sorted. The rest of my oily zones did indeed stay matte, while the areas prone to dehydration stayed flake-free, a feat most mattifying foundations can’t manage on my combo-to-oily skin.

I dressed the end result up for summer with some highlighter and shimmering bronzing powder – all that matte was a bit much on its own for this time of year – but it’s not actually hitting the shelves until September, and I think it will make a great foil for vampy lips and darker eyes over the coming months.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse foundation is available from September, priced at €7.99

DEfinitely not firing on all cylinders, took me 3 re-reads to see that you were saying it went on like a dream under your foundation brush and not your foundation!

Is this replacing the current Stay Matte Foundation that they have? Or is it running beside it (if you know what I mean….))?

I did try to take some swatch photos, Freckles, but unfortunately they were just unusable when I reviewed them :( Macro photography is difficult, yo!

I will give this a go when it comes out..if there is a pale option, currently using No 7 in calico. It’s a v good price for a foundation!

I am in LOVE with this foundation! I bought it today for €5.99 (on sale) usually €7.99 and I tried it the second I got home.. I fell in love instantly! It does exactly what it says on the tube.. It feels like velvet on the skin.. It instantly mattifies my skin.. I have extremely oily skin and I have tried so many oil free foundations but I have to say this is by far the best! Where can you go wrong with €7.99?! I’m so excited about this foundation!

Put it on for college today, usually look like I have just ran a marathon by 11am, but no today I looked NORMAL! 22 years old and I have found the perfect foundation for my extremely oily skin… I am so happy and so excited for this! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Does exactly what it promises to :)

This is a great foundation! I’ve tried many brands, even many expensive top brands on the market. This foundation is very good for only €6.99!
It blends well, is very smooth and is good for oily skin. If you tend to have an oily t-zone then this is the foundation for you.
