Yay! They're here! The hotly anticipated and lengthily named L’Oréal Paris Glam Shine Stain Splash lip lovelies have been tipped as excellent dupes for the far spendier Glossy Stains from YSL.
This happens a lot with brands in the L'Oreal stable: one of the high end brands will put lots of time and money and research into a new and innovative product, and a short time later a similar product will appear in one of the more mass market ranges.

It happened with the Armani Eyes to Kill Shadows and the L'Oreal Paris Colour Infallible range. Oh and with the Kerastase Oil and the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary oils. And actually it's already happened with the YSL Glossy Stains - remember the Maybelline SuperStay 10 hr Stain Gloss? But the Glam Shine Stain Splash range is much closer to the YSL original.

Both products are gloss/stain hybrids with a doefoot applicator - they feel light and comfortable to wear, aren't sticky in the slightest and because of the staining action, are longwearing on the lips. With both the L'Oreal and YSL versions I find the darker colours work best - the paler shades don't show up as well on the lips, and don't have as much staining power.

I have three to show you today: Milady, Lolita and Eve. First, a quick word of warning: don't expect the colour to look the same on your lips as it does in the tube.
None of these three did - Milady looks like a mid plum but translates to a deep berry when I wear it. Eve appears as if it will be a Barbie pink but shows up as a very natural, my lips but better shade and Lolita looks like a nude, but is more peach toned on the lips.

The formula is made with 30% water so it feels fresh, light and hydrating. After a few hours the glossy effect wears off and you're left with a matte-look stain. I wore Milady for a day's shopping, eating and drinking and it lasted a good eight hours, with one quick top up along the way.

In total there are 8 shades in the range, including Princess (200), which is that lovely coral Cheryl's wearing in the ad. I've definitely got my eye on that one next!
