Brisk Beauty: The Sixty Minute Pit Stop To Hair, Nail And Makeup Perfection

We think of ourselves as being rather inventive here at Beaut.ie. Together with our gawjus readers, we have had some wonderful ideas. Now they may not all have taken off commercially as of YET, but it is only a matter of time before our à la carte Advent Calendar is taking the world by storm. And the MacGyver-inspired fake tan applicator (including it's patented clothes hanger base) will surely have all the Dragons agog by next year.

Well my latest Beaut.ie business proposal came to me last week as I sat in the Hairdresser From Hell. I spent two and a half hours in the salon and all I wanted was a wash and blow-dry. I sat there for what seemed like an eternity as she attempted to rip all the hair out of my head, one by painful one. It was like getting my head waxed in a Siberian Gulag.

With party season approaching, many of us are players at The Beauty Games. Running like Katniss Everdeen from hairdresser to nail bar, and then scuttling liked a demented spray tanned cockroach to the makeup artist's chair. Why do we make it so difficult and long-winded for ourselves?

So allow me to present the Beaut.ie Belt. See, what we need to invest in is a conveyor belt fit for our ravishing readers, where we jump on at one end and emerge later from under the Willy Wonka style beauty pumps, preened and polished to perfection.

But I may be too late to the primping party. The idea of "fast beauty" has been in NYC for over a decade, thus lending the term "New York-style grooming" to the concept. Get your hair, nails and make up done in under an hour, all in the same chair and for about sixty smackers.

London has just opened its first Blow Ltd salon in Covent Garden. Their menu allows you to pick a hairstyle (30 mins), nail colour (15 mins) and make up look (15 mins), promising to have you out the door and looking gorgeous in an hour. How long before Dublin follows suit?

I love this idea, it just takes the hassle (and maybe a little bit of the expense) out of getting ready for an event. Rather than doing the headless chicken impression in the rain as you curse the nail salon for keeping you waiting and so you are now running late for the hairdresser, imagine the ease of just sitting with a cup of tea and having all those professionals fuss around you.

There are salons throughout the country that offer a few different services to their customers but as far as I know there aren’t any that cater to this conveyor belt idea of fast ‘n’ easy beauty bars.

The closest may be our new Benefit Bar (and don't forget the exclusive offer to Beaut,ie readers of 20% off ends this week) but we could push the idea even further.

There is a gap in the Irish market for a dedicated straight through, timed grooming room. And I'll be first on that prettification production line.

What do you think of the fast beauty bar? Would you sign up to an hour on the beauty assembly line? Tell us in the comments.
