The ultimate stocking stuffers? Happy Christmas from Durex and their Santa Stocking!

By Aisling | December 6 2012 | 19 Comments

Rarely – and by rarely I mean never before – have I received something in the post that’s made me laugh so much.

I thought the delivery man was giving me funny and meaningful eye to eye contact as I signed for the box at the door.

“Ooooh someone’s sent me a Christmas stocking packed with goodies – how lovely!”  I thought, opening the box and upended the stocking to send a multitude of… treats rolling across the kitchen table.

“Wha’?” I thought.  And then I took a closer look at the stocking.  A specially made Durex stocking embroidered with the name.  I absolutely howled.

Packed it was, choc a bloc, with all manner of Tingles and Plays and other brightly coloured Durex merchandise.  And you know – they would make great stocking stuffers!  Once you’re not planning on giving them to your granny or anything.

Now the funny thing is I HAVE actually reviewed Durex Tingle before – years ago and Ray Darcy read about it on the radio, leading to me becoming some kind of sexpert, as men with previously unsatisfied girlfriends around the country took it upon themselves to email me and thank me for this review and the happiness it had brought into their lives.  I was horrified by this new role I found myself in and as I never replied to anyone, my er guru status in the Tingle area quickly petered out.

But yis lot know what you voted as your favourite body gadget in the 2012 Awards don’t you?  And we all know a good ride is the best way to bring a healthy flush to the cheeks – why else did Nars name their bestselling blusher Orgasm?

Why not share some seasonal cheer?  Have yourself a merry little Christmas indeed!

I think I’m officially in love with the marketing department in Durex now.

It’s the BEST marketing I’ve seen in a long time – absolutely hilarious!

This is fantastic. I think I would die laughing if this was what was in my stocking!

  • Hellojed says:

Brilliant! I sniggered at your previous post too – classic.

  • Miss. Y says:

Wow… hilarious! Although I have to admit that they made a nice effort :-D
I think that the stocking actually looks cute! Hahaha though I don’t know if I’ll give this to my boyrfriend / or friends in need any time soon :-D :-D

Will you be reviewing this lot for us Aisling ;0

  • Belle says:

Nice haul there!! Stuff like this is great as a stocking filler or joke present for the other half! I also want to get ‘fundies’ as a present!! Have to say though I don’t really get why people squirm away from this kind of thing! If you’re already sleeping with your boyfriend what’s the issue of giving him these kind of fun gifts or trying them out!!

  • LynnieDoll says:

Not to be sniffed at Aisling – that’s an expensive stocking you got there. Durex stuff ain’t cheap.
And how cute – they even went to the trouble of personalising it for you.

I really hope whoever is responsible for this in their marketing department will get a bonus this year. The embroidery is so nice and ‘thoughtful’.

And Belle, I agree with you. I’m all for normalising (or even, dare we “render it fun”) safe sex. It’s been some time since I’ve seen campaigns on this (I can only remember one on Belgian TV 4 years ago, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on French TV, not to mention Irish one), and this stocking would be the perfect starter for a Christmas one.

  • *Aisling* says:

Was hilarious especially as the stocking itself is so cuddly and innocent – I had no idea what would be inside.

BUT: the box had already been opened

No wonder the delivery man was giving me funny looks. He probably thought I was some kind of sex crazed santa freak

  • Just plain brilliant.

That is brilliant. Agree that the marketing person deserves a big Christmas bonus! Such a cute stocking from the outside too!

I’m one of those people who does blush over the whole thing which I shouldn’t at 27 but I do. Doesn’t stop me talking about it though or trying to at least. Agree that it shouldn’t be a hidden thing.

That said I don’t buy anything in the chemist up the road from me coz they are judgy mcjudgersons over every purchase (a nailvarnish that had glitter in it resulted in an exchange of “oh is glitter in for young women this year. Oh look at it. So sparkly. That’ll perk nails right up won’t it etc etc”) so just don’t want to deal with that.

  • lolobella says:

Errrmmm, can you actually buy these from somewhere? The sock with the stuff in it- saying that I’d probably be morto buying it but I do think it’s a great idea! Not sure about hanging the stocking on the fireplace with the pretty ‘durex’ logo though!!

  • *Aisling* says:

lolobella – you could hang it somewhere else wha’?

  • Fee says:

Perfect present for my brother the college student.

  • Shanna says:

This is brilliant!! Fair play to them, they got us all talking about it! (and wondering what the little devil thing is.. *cough*….)

  • Eimear says:

Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with DUREX,
    And checks.
Sign your ‘X’ on the line,
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight!

  • lolobella says:

Aisling, not sure if I could get a stocking filler big enough to fill that one, know what I mean, wink wink…… ok I’m gonna stop now before this gets really ridiculous!
