Elinor & Gossipgal, another one here who had to rob the brothers lego (and Meccano & K’nex) I was a pure tomboy but my aunts still gave me dolls each year – these got donated to my brother who would pick them up in this tractors and drive them around the house. Am an engineer too – although stuck in Social Media land at the moment!

God we were all deprived haha..

For some reason I always wanted a rocking horse, my neighbour had one and there was a deadly one on the Late Late Toy Show one year and that was it, I was obsessed! Never got one, parents just said it would be too big for Santa to carry, lazy so and so!

I always desperaely wanted a puppy and i did finally get one when I was 13, loved that dog more than anything my parents ever got me before or since = )

Now I ask ‘Santa’ for random things like an A380 (plane), a JCB and a cement mixer just to see what the husband will come up with, so far so hilarious!

@ fifi I always wanted a cabbage patch doll too but never got one : ( hunting one down for my daughter now but I doubt she will enjoy unboxing it as much as I will!!!

For me aside from the cabbage patch dolls it was those pencil cases that you pressed buttons on and secret compartments popped out with different size compartments to hold sharpener, eraser etc. The girl who sat next to me had one from america when no one else did and we all thought she was the coolest kid for about a week….

Every year I asked Santa for a Mr. Frosty and Percy Penguin. My mam told me years later she scoured the city for one every year and couldn’t find one-clearly now I see that’s because everyone wanted one!
I did get a Fashion Wheel-absolutely brilliant. Our neighbours had a Soda Stream-we thought they were crazy rich.
Like others, my dream was a puppy dog. Begged, pleaded, cried, threatened. Never got one, mam told me the doc told her we were allergic. Lies.
When I finally finished college aged 31 and had moved out, I got my puppy. Worth the wait. And no, I’m not allergic.

A remote control! We didn’t have one for absolutely years. And of course with me being the youngest I was up and down like a yoyo.

I’ve always wanted (and still want) two stairs ala the Cosby show! My parents built a new house recently and I spent so long trying to convince them to put in two stairs (it’s a dormer bungalow and all 3 children are long moved out) only my sister happened to overhear me one day, realised where I was getting my inspiration from and rolled around laughing. God we loved that show.
Some day I’ll get that other stairs in my own house..I’ll probably end up in a bungalow!

Lynne my granny had a spiral staircase in her house! They are a complete nightmare btw.

Ok, I realise I sound slightly obsessed with stairs now…

I always wanted some new lego of my own too but always had to make do with my older brother’s stuff. The sexist injustice of it all! I’m an engineer now ironically enough.

Best post ever … me and my brother desperately wanted Soda Stream, but the parents were agin it. We also really wanted (this sounds sad) games like Buckaroo but they never came. They still make it, I might treat myself to a Buckaroo some time.

We had a soda stream but could only use it at Xmas. We were mad for a sandwich toaster (my grandmother had one but we could never use it because it took to much cleaning. She would make toasted sandwichs on the grill or the pan for us.) and a dishwasher. Mum got a dishwasher after we all moved out. Sega megadrive was on the Xmas list for years. We got a Commodore 64 instead. Which did not play Sonic the hedgehog
