Completely agree on the ad – hate it. Hideous. Who on earth wants to look like a plasticky weird starey airbrushed-to-death DOLL for goodness’ sake??

I was sucked in by the advertising campaign with the dolly girls so when a salesperson in Debenhams waved her wand at me I was happy to try it out…. Bad move. Ended up with really clumpy lashes and it transferred onto my eyelids in no time. Maybe waterproof would be worth a go. Pretty happy with Benefit They’re Real at the mo.
Can anyone recommend a budget buy similar to it?

Thanks Aisling! I’ve used the Doll Eyes for a while and never thought it wasn’t ‘black’ enough..

Florapost- the smell is AWFUL isn’t it?! puts me off using it in the morning. Gag..if they changed that I’d be a happy camper!

Really hated the original doll eyes. It looked great for about 30 seconds before it started sliding down my face. The really strong rose scent bothered me no end too.

Catrice mascara in the black tube is a great dupe for doll eyes, same brush!!!

SparkleSparkle – YSL Faux Cils is amazeballs but I find my eyes are sometimes slightly irritated after the plum/burgundy one as well. Whatever chemical creates that colour must not be too peeper-compatible.

Re waterproof mascara & smudging – try Clarins Double Fix!!! It’s a clear topcoat that makes any mascara completely waterproof; much more so than actual waterproof formulations. I have been wearing it for years and my mascara lasts through marathon clubbing sessions no bother. It’s amazing. It’s about 16/18 euro at Clarins counters and you can get it in the duty free for about 14 euro. Eylure did a much cheaper version for a while but it seems to have been discontinued. Apart from the price I can’t recommend the Clarins highly enough though.

Same as many posters here, I didn’t love Doll Eyes AT ALL. Much prefer Hypnose Drama or Estee Lauder Projectionist.

fififinx if you would prefer a brown then you should give the purple a try. its softer on the eye without giving any colour.
i was addicted to YSL faux cils for years, but i’m now allergic to the pigment in it, along with a lot of other eyeshadows, mascara’s, eyeliners with purple/burgundy pigments, sadface

Nah, I didn’t like Doll Eyes one bit, much prefer Hypnose! I try and buy the twin pack of Hypnose, keeps the cost down a bit…
