Hear, hear!

I hope it proves to be good.
1. I have fond memories of HP and 2. I honestly do wish people success, so it would be lovely to hear she's got 'it' still/elsewhere/in general.

This is on my book wish list! I am looking forward to reading it and I agree that the reviews are unfair. I am looking forward to reading this book because its not a Harry Potter book! Despite loving the Harry Potter series.
JK is a talented writer.

I never read any Harry Potter or saw any of the films - there you go! I don't like kids books for adults (though I did read The Hunger Games). So I'm delighted JK Rowling is using her considerable talents to write for adults and I'll be picking this book up for sure!

Anna do update us and tell us what you made of the book when you finished it

I've gone off novels for some reason - I find it a struggle to get through them. But I won't be picking this up - just doesn't sound like my cup of tea! I can't be arsed to read novels about drug addicts and state benefits - not my idea of escapism! I did read a favourable book review earlier though, it said it wasn't brilliant but it was good enough, considering she has all these high expectations about her.

Still didn't make me want to read it though. Ahh, just in a lazy phase. I love to read, but am only hooked on non-fiction at the moment.

I really don't think that anybody is seriously suggesting that JK Rowling should stick to writing fantasy novels aimed at children. That's hardly a fair interpretation of the reviews mentioned.I think for most readers genre doesn't matter provided the book is actually well written.
Why shouldn't it be compared to Harry Potter? Yes,different genres, but it's still story telling.

What I do take issue with though is all the one star reviews the book has received on Amazon due to the more expensive kindle price. There's a bit of a revolt of the kindle users going on.

Now, see I loved all the Harry Potter books, even though I am WAY outside their target age. But as a regular fantasy reader, I get very tired of authors spinning their stories out beyond the beyonds of what the story/characters could hold. JK Rowling finished the Harry Potter books. Over. Done.

I think I was reading last weekend that Emma Donohue was delighted with the success of Room, because now she can write what she likes, without worrying about whether it will sell.

Personally, if I was JK Rowling, I would sit on diamond studded chairs, and eat only my favourite crisps, while travelling anywhere I fancied, but I'm a lazy bint :)

So, she can write what she enjoys, it will be published, and she can ignore the reviews with abandon - bliss for an author, I expect :)
