Aisling, why can I see a whole post of polls being done along these lines. Y'know Lyons or Barrys, Club or Fanta, Brennans or Pat the Baker, Cheese & Onion or Salt & Vinegar (Tayto of course. None of this Walkers stuff). Those ones that every Irish person has an answer to, and outsiders would never understand.

Oh and Loco Chai tea is lovely. I don't like coffee so normally feel really inadequate in Starbucks but a soy chai tea latte is like a hug in a mug. Really, really tasty.

TheFrog, that's almost identical to my tea schedule. Although I don't have a flask for my morning one, it normally comes in a two-cup cup and I might have the odd extra one or two thrown in there for good measure. And all proper tea, no herbal or non-caffeinated. I recently worried about not getting enough calcium and then realised that the amount of milk I drink in tea alone is probably enough to keep me going!
I wouldn't say I'm very brand-loyal. My favourite is Lyons, followed by Punjana and then Yorkshire strong blend, as long it can make a decently strong cup I'm happy. With a wee bit more milk than you feel comfortable putting in and no sugar, thanks.

I'm off to put on the kettle.

I'm another non tea or coffee drinker. Never liked the taste of either. Love the smell of coffee but I have a really sweet tooth so would need a tonne of sugar to make it taste ok and I figured that's not a habit I need so I never started.

Thefrog, that's so true! And remember, everything here is solved by a cup of tea: broken heart, cold, sadness, flu, leg amputated by a chainsaw, you'll have a cup of tea and feel better :) And you're right: it is never a question!

Anna, the French writer Sorj Chalendon wrote this sentence in one of his semi-autobiographical books on Northern Ireland (translation's mine): "I don't like tea. I don't understand tea. But every time I've crossed a door in this country, a woman has offered me a cup of tea."

In my experience, it's not only women who do it (or maybe my male Irish friends have been very well brought up), and the offer of a cup is always followed by "and you'll have a biscuit". And it's never a question. As one of these friends once told me "you can't say no to a cup of tea", before introducing me to Mrs Doyle on you tube!
