Mac Glamour, Daze and Fabulousness ranges for Christmas 2012: don’t get too excited?

You know what?  I’ve been sitting on this press release for quite a while for one main reason really.  The first and most important one is this: this collection does nothing for me on paper.  It looks so boring.  This is what Mac came up with for Christmas?  Disappointed doesn’t even come into the equation here.

Look at the Christmas collections we’ve been showcasing from other premium brands – Lancome, Bobbi Brown et al.  What’s happened here?

So well, I thought, I’d give it another chance.  Maybe the collection looks better in “real life” as it were? Mac asked for requests for samples for photography and trial purposes.   So I duly requested samples so I could judge the collection properly and take my own photos. I received a small eyeshadow and a lipstick from the Glamour Daze range. There wasn’t a whole lot of point in taking the pics, editing and captioning them to be honest.  Brands who don’t bother their backsides to send you proper samples for evaluation don’t deserve the effort and time it takes to take proper images and caption them, provide prices and basically advertise for them for free.

Never mind.  All I can show you then are these press release pics which every single other media outlet and blogger on the planet has already received.  So I won’t.  Oh there’s more – they’ve done some stuff in collaboration with Nicki Minaj, but that’s nothing special either.

I know I sound a bit disillusioned in this post, but Mac is losing a little of it’s sparkle for me.  I still love them – some of the collections take my breath away – others just seem like it’s all too much.

How are you feeling about Mac these days?  Still love them as much as ever, or are they getting a little lazy?  And are they churning out far too many Limited Edition collections?
