My family love slagging me off about my love of Mrs. Fletcher! My Dad thinks it’s all I watch on telly. I do love Poirot and Miss Marple as well. The costumes are always so lovely.

I saw the Oirish episode recently – hilarity in every shot! I LOVE ol’ Jessica – highlights of my crime-viewing days always include her, Dr. Steve Sloane and Father Dowling. Ooh, and Poirot’s grey cells. I get twitchy if I haven’t had one (cosily fictional) death by evening.

Once – ONCE – I saw a MSW wrote where she DIDN’T end the episode with a laugh. This was so momentous (spelling?) I had to tell my mother, who insisted it had to have been FAKE, because Jessica (we’re on first name terms) always laughs at the end! Come to think of it, she’s a real trooper, even when her friend has been bumped off (happened a few times I think?) or one of her friends was the killer – she’s still cheerful at the end!

Didn’t you see the episode where Jessica’s impeccably packed luggage go missing on a trip, and she was caught without a costume when the Major threw one of those impromtu parties? Oh the horror… poor Jessica had to do her best (worst?) with some ashes and some berries.

(For those of you concerned about Ms Lansbury’s sense of style/eyesight, she’s still in stage make-up after a performance. Phew!)

Mother of divine god who did the make-up job on her in the second photo , there must have been no mirror around for to cop what crayola effect had been scrawled on her face ! The poor woman , words fail me …..if my mother went out with make up like that on I’d have to leave the country

Brilliant! I loved this as a young wan.
Othermary- i LOVED matlock,fr dowling mysteries.a team was my favourite,i had the colouring book and all. My old housemate even tried to get me an a team van for my 30th:) and does anyone remember jake n the fatman? !

I only saw the ‘Irish’ episode about 6 months ago, laughed my head off. Be gorra – there wasn’t an irish phrase that they didn’t squeeze in. And it was all solved because of a bottle of cheap Irish perfume sold in the local shop/bar/tourist office/post office all in one. Helarious.

Do you know my favourite thing about Murder She Wrote? There was never any DNA in it or crime scene, you know, evidence! It was usually solved by the murderer confessing and being overheard by the cops, after being set up by Jessica. Then he’d be taken away in handcuffs and that would be that.

There was never any follow up in the court room, you know, with the Judge going ‘So, you have a confession. What else do you have? Fingerprints? DNA? Hair fibres? Any evidence whatsoever that this man put his hands on the victim?’ Like in the CSI programmes today the murderer can take a photo of himself murdering the victum but unless CSI comes up with a sample of hair or something, he’s let off!

Not so in Jessica’s day. I love it. How murder investigations SHOULD be carried out. You can forget about your ‘evidence’.
