Polly, I work in advertising and believe me, if this was my campaign and this was the reaction it was getting, I wouldn’t class it as having worked. Just because people are talking about it, doesn’t mean it’s a successful campaign. A successful campaign results in a positive perception your brand. And I doubt there are too many positives in this one…

This kind of ad really frustrates me. I can’t help but feel that they’re using my sexuality and its ‘shock factor’ as a marketing tool. It just fetishizes female same sex relationships.

Also the whole kissing yourself thing is just plain weird.

Well I guess well done to the advertising execs – the ads are working cos we’re talking about them. Even if it is to bring up the subject of how lame these ads are they’ve succeeded as they’ve got our attention… such is life!

I missed the memo that explained to me, why i, a female customer, am supposed to like ads with sexy/ naked women. I seriously don’t get it. My prefered naked people are men.

I thought Chanel had a great idea by working with Brad pitt. The result is a joke, but it could have been great.

I have to disagree Teresa C – it’s not like HN are doing this ad to champion same sex couples, it’s just being done to titillate & this same nonsense has been done to death and as many others feel, so boring at this point – lazy too.

It’s not even like it’s two different girls kissing – hence a couple – it’s the same girl being reflected back to her that she’s “loving” so basically making out with herself – I don’t really get it – it doesn’t say anything to me except lazy advertising.

I have to disagree, I’m afraid. You say kissing is being used as a “cheap thrill” but I’m struggling to think of a single perfume advert where a man and a woman are all over each other!

I’m not sure if it’s the same-sex kissing or the “love yourself” concept that’s bothering you… and the Mary Portas dig further adds to my confusion on this.

I think it’s funny people are seeing two girls about to kiss as a shocking image – I think it’s a good thing that they aren’t afraid to depict it and normalise same sex kissing – we’re so so bombarded with the aforementioned men and women together in advertising. If nothing else, you have to agree the girls in the pictures have beautiful make-up and model it well.
