Got my first period and my first grey one month after turning eleven! My mam has been totally grey (well white) since thirty but still dyes her hair her natural dark brown. I've been every colour under the sun, naturally quite dark but had been having blonde highlights since about age twenty but last year bit the bullet (at twenty nine) and got an all over dark chocolate brown, the grey was showing even through the blonde highlights, I thought it was disguising it but eh... No! Never had so much compliments on my hair now it's back to its near natural state. It's healthy, shiny and I only have to get it done professionally twice a year, the rest of the time I use a semi permanent dye from terrisales and I have to say the difference in my hair is unbelievable! Much healthier. I'll never go grey gracefully. Suits some people though.

Started going grey at 16. Just an odd one appeared for a long time but because my hair was so dark you they were very noticeable by the time I was 19! Did home dye's for a long time until I was about 24 but then I cut my long tresses off into a bob and let the niggly silver strands come through and LOVED IT! Last month I dyed the rest of my hair and left a silver streak in the front for something new and kind of miss the silver bob...I am very aware that at 28 I would age myself so much if I let it all go grey but I still feel like I'm flying the flag a little. Oh and BTW, 60% of women look at me funny but 99% of guys always admired it!

@Daisy you will need to talk with your hairdresser but I've used lots of red dyes -permanent and semi - and the semi are good for covering grey at least that's what i found. Just make sure they apply a barrier cream around ur skin as red dyes seem to mark the skin easier than other dyes. Also when washing your hair afterwards the red dye can tend to run more than other dyes so use an old towel for your hair. Hope that helps. :)

Love this post!! - have been dying my hair for years!! Originally just to experiment with some fairy hair raising -pun intended! ;) - results and then to hide the grey. I swear it appears out of nowhere!! At this stage I would have been difficulty in remembering my original hair colour :)

As a teenager i was forever dying my hair all mad colours, then in my 20s i went blonde and stayed blonde till just before my 30th birthday, however a few weeks after my 30th i noticed a "blonde " hair coming through the hair dye, except it wasn't blonde, it was a feckin grey, i nearly died, i wanted to stay dark but couldn't be arse dying it every 3-4 weeks to hid the greys, so i went back blonde with low lights, its very natural and the greys don't show, result

I'm a redhead and have never dyed it but there's a large swathe of grey/white at my temples now and an increasing amount in my parting. Sigh! Have been putting off getting it dyed as I know I can't go back, but will have to bite the bullet soon I reckon.

This post is well timed as I spent the morning cutting grey hairs out and I'm only 20! Noticed my first greys when I was about 17. Neither of my parents went grey early so I don't know why I've been cursed with this, haha! I'm so paranoid of people noticing them, especially as I get the occasional grey in my fringe. I'm thinking of dying my hair as close to my natural colour as possible to cover them. Does anyone know is semi-permanent dye enough to do the job?

I always thought I wouldn't mind being grey when older, until older got closer. I'm now 45 & dying it lighter than its natural dark brown shade. I managed to hide most of it as the grey was mainly around the hairline so a fringe and long locks worked - only tying it back for a week or two after dying. Unfortunately the greys are spreading & I'm getting that white parting I so dread. As my hair grows quickly I've roots after 3 weeks so maintenance is now a pain and those touch up the roots jobs no longer contain enough dye *sob* (and they're not much cheaper than a full box). I quite fancy short hair but you can't get away with two inch roots if your hair is 3 inches long. Short hair would mean giving up the dye which is looking more appealing but I'm just too vain to do. Maybe when I'm 50?
